Reverse Trend in November

For the most part November has been a strong month for the Hawks under Coach Ferentz.

However, last year the Hawks appeared to go in the opposite direction in losing to an unranked Northwestern team and having some trouble beating Minnesota at home.

This year Iowa beat Indiana on a prayer and again lost to an unranked Northwestern team. We shall see what this weekend brings and the weekend after that with Minnesota. My guess is Iowa will lose to Ohio State and have trouble beating Minnesota.

It seems to me there is a recent trend where Iowa is moving the opposite direction of playing its best football in November. I'm not sure why this is. Anyone have any ideas why?

ehhh, is it fair to assess '09 with stanzi injured? in '08 we were 3-1? another stat for you November the last 3 years: 5-4 with those 4 losses by a total of 20 points. what if we are playing tough or our best football, but is it out of the question to assume that other teams are improving too? quite frankly all of NU's games had been close... outside of ILLST,

Northwestern
average margain of victory: 5.1 points; average margain of defeat: 8 points.

Iowa
average margain of victory: 24.2 points; average margain of defeat: 4 points.

- this should be blatantly obvious to people, teams that play in close games are more "battle tested." So NU this year is more "battle tested" --On games decided by less than 9 points Iowa has won only 1 in their last 6!!

I think Iowa is only 9-9 in Nov. since 2005.

still trying to justify the loss. the fact is that Iowa allowed a team to come back to a team that couldn't put ANYBODY away.
