Ohio State @ Iowa game thoughts

1. The Big Ten schedule makers keep Ohio State from traveling to Iowa as much as possible to protect their most marketable team. Ohio State has not played at Iowa since 2006, splitting the last two games at Iowa. No current Buckeye has played at Kinnick, so the place will be unfamiliar and hostile.

2. Ohio State has ZERO Iowa natives, while Iowa has a dozen Ohio natives to include QB Stanzi, and WR DJK.... both were not offered by Tressell. Stanzi because he supposedly wasn't good enough but could walk on, and DJK because he was too much of a liability. Stanzi may walk on Ohio St and DJK (Iowa's all-time leading WR) might prove to be quite liable! This will be Stanzi's first and only game versus Ohio St.

3. Due to Stanzi's injury last year, Iowa started freshman QB James Vandenberg in what became the "Big Ten Championship". Vandenberg played a masterful game leading Iowa into OT at the Shoe. The game ended on a made FG made by a 26 year old professional soccer player... 2009 Final 27-24 Ohio State.

4. Ohio State again goes into hiding after this game as the Big Ten continues to keep them from playing in Iowa. I understand why, but think it is wrong. Has anyone taken a look at the 2011 Hawkeye Football Schedule? No Wisconsin, No Ohio State, No Illinois scheduled. The schedule looks very favorable.

However, there is a disclaimer... we have a Big Ten Championship game starting in 11!!! So, unless they play this game at the SHOE... it will be much more difficult for Ohio State.

Ohio State is scared to go to Iowa. OSU begs the B10 not to make them play in Kinnick...gimme a break. What is OSU's all-time record at Iowa?

LMAO

I asked in another thread where you've been.

Apparently lurking around waiting for a chance to pounce.

Hopefully both teams take care of business and it will be a great day with Gameday in town for the Iowa-OSU game.

Has the time of the game been set or will it end up being a primetime game??

Read his post, he says the BIG TEN doesn't schedule the games.....Ohio St. doesn't make out the Big ten schedule......Don't get your panties in a bunch....

God Ohio St. fans are obnoxious!!

To the OP. Whoa! You're thinking ahead too far. You can't be doing that. One game at a time, you'll have the team looking ahead too!;)

How's that?

First off, I never stated Ohio State is scared to play at Iowa. I stated the Big Ten schedulers keep it from happening and that I know why, but think it is garbage.

Your question got me wondering, and this is crazy. Ohio State has only played in Iowa 25 times EVER. Winning 17 of those game. Meanwhile, Iowa has played 37 times at Ohio State only winning 8. What kind of scheduling is this? Why does Iowa allow this? Shouldn't it be split? This reminds me of the ACC-Big Ten Basketball challenge scheduling.

What a complete joke! I didn't realize it was 37 to 25 home vs away games in the Iowa-Ohio State game prior to just looking it up.
