Dumb Hawks Win Big

Last week I learned this team is dumb.

I also know about this team that it's very good.

Law of averages suggests that it plays smarter this week and continues it's consistently good play.

Iowa wins 41 - 20 this week.
 




My pick would be that Iowa loses in a close one.

I'm not certain that Iowa will be able to consistently win on first down. Furthermore, if we do win them on occasion ... how susceptible will we then be against the opponent's passing game?

You better believe that our LBs will continue to get picked on by our opponent's QBs. And, unlike last year, the Big 10 QBs are EVEN BETTER this year!
 


Michigan State 24-21. The teams are even but the difference will be special teams & inexperience at linebacker for Iowa.
 


I, too, am worried about our LBs. I'm sure that MSU has been studying ways to continue to exploit our LBs in pass coverage.

I think we can win, but it will have to be our A game in ALL three phases.

I disagree. I think that Wisky has a better OL than MSU has. That is one strategic factor that could actually end up helping Iowa in the game.

My bigger concern is that Cousins is a better QB than Tolzien ... and, he has a deeper arsenal of weapons to tap into as well.
 


I really really hope I'm wrong but I think MSU is in position to win this one too. I think they'll pick apart our linebackers and unless O'Keefe lights it up, we won't be able to catch up. Now if they let Stanzi play lights out, I think we can overcome our current situation on D.
 


We get a pass rush on MSU QB we win this game. If we don't we lose this game. I think it is as simple as that.
 








63-59 hawkeyes- nobody plays defense saturday. also ken o'keefe, er i mean ferentz read the message boards and calls at least 6 "gadget" plays. rucker gets arrested for assault in the 3rd quarter.

But the decision is left up to him if he wants to play the 4th ;)
 






If we can pressure Cousins and force turnovers (AND ACTUALLY CAPITALIZE ON THEM!) we will win this one. Otherwise, MSU wins a close one, and we head towards a mediocre season by preseason standards.

Don't be simplistic. It is not mearly the fact that we lost by 1 point but it is what we did to cause us to lose by 1 point. That was our game to win and we crapped the bed which is typically not a situation that instills alot of confidence in people.

Not at all true. The fact that Iowa has given up so many points, has continued to show some serious issues on special teams, and has injury issues at LB would still make me VERY nervous about the MSU game.
