Guess Whos Back, Norm is Back!

This is absolutely fantastic news. Win or lose, we are so much better with him involved in the defensive schemes.

This bodes well for the rest of the year (we have 6 games left, with the bowl, hopefully)

Awesome. I am guessing he won't be calling plays since he hasn't been in on gameplanning, but to have his expertise on the headsets will be HUGE.

I don't know what all the excitement is about. Coach Ferentz announced earlier in the week that Norm may attend the game, but not in a coaching capacity. He is still probably a week or more away from assuming any coaching responsibilities.

Norm's presence may give Iowa an emotional lift but he is not coaching on Saturday.

Yes. Great to see him make it to the press box but he isn't coaching.

If he is in the pressbox, he will be "coaching." A guy as stubborn as Norm will get his word in and not just sit back as a spectator. He may not be official, but he will have opinions and I am sure they will be expressed.

You're right, I'm sure he is going to sit in the press box and not say a word or tell someone what he see's going on if something isn't working.

I would bet that he is in the coach's box with headphones on. He won't be making play calls or anything, but he will occasionally give some input.

Norm Parker is one of my all time favorite Hawkeyes. He is
right up there with Hayden Kirk and Mr. Davis. Any positive news about him is welcome whether it effects the hawkeyes in any way or not.

Welcome back Norm!

Of course he will have input. He won't be able to help himself.

Football is war and there is a lot of psychology involved. To have your leader back on the day of battle is absolutely huge from a psychological standpoint.

They used to say that Napoleon's presence on the field was worth 10 battalions.

Iowa will play with tremendous emotion Saturday. I'm not predicting victory, but cocky Sparty is gonna be in for a tough fight.

Our crowd needs to be loud and emotional as well. All of the pressure is on Michigan State (undefeated season; Rose Bowl; BCS; blah blah blah).

Even though he wasn't involved in the gameplanning, why not just let him wear a headset and relay to the coaches what his eyes are seeing? What a valuable resource he could be...the guy has been doing this for over 40 years after all!
