Perspective: First road victory of the year

Has the ever been a team that struggles so much when it knocks out the other team's starting quarterback? We contain D-Rob, knock him out, and Forcier torches us. Last year, same team but reverse the quarterbacks. Capital One Bowl, we bottle up Marcus Randall, knock him out, contain Flynn, and then JaMarcus Russell leads the comeback. Even knocking Persa out of the Northwestern game last year didn't really do much for us.

I hear what you're saying, and I too was hoping that it was game-set-match once DR was out of the game. I'm certainly no more than an armchair QB, but I have to suspect that when you spend 2 weeks preparing for D Robinson, and then Forcier comes into the game, that's quite a contrast in styles. I'm guessing our coaches and players were concerned about DR's feet, and then Forcier comes into the game and hurts us with his arm when our players were prepared for something else. DR was getting his yards in the first half, but we only gave up 7 points in the first half nontheless.. Coming into the game, I would have taken that in a heartbeat. A player like D. Robinson, this is a cliche, but you can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him. I thought our D did a fairly decent job against him and didn't give up any big plays at all. Did D. Robinson have any players of more than about 10-12 yards or so?

Getting the win was a big plus. I don't care how it came ... I'm just happy that we got it!

The primary negative was the possible injuries from the game. I certainly hope that the injury to Daniels wasn't season-ending.

Radio guys (Brooks) said he was fine; sounded like he hit his funny bone.

This. My gosh, it's like what we have seen from the Iowa defense all year all of the sudden doesn't matter and today has to be the truth. I cannot imagine what it must be like making it through life inside the noggins of some folks.

Come on Jon, this was mentioned at least two other times before he said it in this thread. =o)

Kirk mentioned the LSU game in his post game interview on the radio. I am sure he had flashbacks. :)

His longest run was 12 yards, and he had 97 yards passing. Iowa made him look pretty ordinary.

That's about what I thought. Robinson was getting his yards - about 100 on the ground by halftime if I'm not mistaken, which speaks to how dynamic he really is. But we didn't really let him get out and do any major damage.. Our defense did about as good of a job against him as anybody has all year. Hardly a fail on our D's part.
