Kicking game

Still seems to be a problem. Coverage was a bit better although IMHO against a slightly slower team than Arizona and still not great. Would like to see KO's routinely going to the goal line or beyond.

kind of hold my breath on kick coverage- also, didn't look like meyer got nearly the distance on his kickoffs tonight? anyone else notice this? was it a wind thing?

I wonder if they didn't tell Meyer to start kicking them higher and shorter, like they did last year with Murray. It seems as though he was routinely around the goal line and getting a couple touchbacks early in the year, but that's also when we were having issues covering those kicks. Just a thought...

i was talking about this with a few people last week... i think there may be some truth to this.

Just a tidbit but Murray was kicking during warm ups and looked ok. Bye week should help him get back into the swing of things, would not be surprised if we go with murray on FGs and Myer on Kicks offs.

I think it will be a battle but like in the 08 Penn State game they all should be ready. Never know who coach will give the green light to.

I guess I'm not worried about who's kicking as much as I'm worried about our coverage. Still hold my breath on every kickoff. Although no major mishaps, I'm still not confident in our kick coverage. Tackling is suspect and we don't seem to stay in our lanes. I don't ever remember us having this much of a problem in the past.

I may have not paid as much attention to tonight's game as other games this season (probably because I felt like we were really dominating them and wasn't too worried about losing, but I remember at least one time where the ball was kicked high and in the endzone and they ran it out and saying out-loud "*******" and that my friends... is a good feeling. (Especially when we get them at around the 20 yard line or before.)

I was really impressed by tonight. We definitely dominated them and it made me feel really confident about the rest of the season after seeing how the other teams played.

GO HAWKS!

No one looked all that impressive, but MSU worries me. I feel better that the game is in Kinnick, but they're pretty solid top to bottom. Very solid on the ground and have some playmakers at the receiver position. Remind me a lot of us.

Murray couldn't get a kick deep to the goal line if you put a gun to his head! Leg is NOT that strong.

Right...and Murray's kicks were covered well last year. He kicked short because of his physical limitations. I was wondering if Meyer kicked shorter because of a gameplan alteration, to help our coverage team cover the kicks more effectively.
