Miller: Rankings Shenanigans

Craig James is a complete fool.

Herbie once again shows why he is one of the best. I dont like his Stanford love but the rest of his top 25 is pretty darn solid.

Rankings are so frustrating. Look at Arkansas. They were ahead of the #1 team for 56 minutes yesterday, lose by 4 and fall 5 spots. Shouldn't the 10th ranked team compete with but ultimately lose to the #1 team?

Why are they being dropped?

This "rule" that a team must be dropped whenever it loses is crazy. Losing a tough game to a great team should not penalize you. Losing to a poor team or performing poorly should.

It doesn't matter folks. We haven't beaten anyone. Quit complaining because this Iowa team hasn't earned anything yet.

WE HAVE OUR CHANCE to earn respect in our next 4 games. If we win our next 4 games we'll be back in the top 10 guaranteed. Depending on how things shake out in other conferences over the next 4 weeks and how Arizona does if we finish our game at home against Michigan State with an 7-1 record we could be ranked as high as 7th in the nation the way I see it.

Beat OSU and we'll be knocking on the BCS title game door. Lots of football to be played and thus far the only team we've played is Arizona and we lost...

Most coaches have their personal assistants due the voting for them. As far as the AP, it's a complete joke. I'd like to punch Craig James in the face.

Well...

Iowa has beaten up on teams like EIU, ISU and BSU...and in these cases, we haven't been crushing teams like other schools do. Maybe if we were putting up scores like 60-0...

But we also lost to the only tough team we faced. Yes it was ranked Arizona team, on the road, and only by 7, but still.

We should win in the Big Ten, and preferably win big.

You are nuts if you do not think it matters every week. Poll positioning is key and sitting beyond numerous other 1 loss teams is not good...you realize they also play tough games and will be 'earning respect' as well. The fact is it matters whether you want to believe it or not.

Craig James continues to prove how completely worthless he is as an analyst. Even listening to his analysis of anything to do with the sport is awful whenever he's on ESPN.

Who cares about the rankings they are just opinions. Iowa still has not impressed anyone yet. Although we won yesterday in a blowout we were suppose to do that, but we also looked like crap doing it. All of the dropped passes and bad snaps. Championship caliber teams are suppose to make those plays even if it is in the rain.
As for stanford, they have played 3 BCS teams so far beating them by an average of 34 points. Yes ND is a BCS team because of their affiliation also all of stanford's wins have been more impressive than any team we have faced. Both UCLA and Notre Dame has way more talent than any team we have played. UCLA just beat a top 10 team on the road yesterday by 22 points and all of ND's losses have came against ranked teams. Two of which we play this year and we expect to be close and hard games.

This + infinity. What a tool he is. As to the problems with his son, it is clear that the apple does not fall to far from the tree.
