Iowa ranked 18th in the new AP and coaches poll

I'm happy with 18th in both polls. I was fearing a worse drop than that. We should be happy being the highest ranked 1-loss team. There is plenty of season left to make an ascent back up the mountain, Take a look at our schedule and all the ranked teams we have on it. If the coaching staff can clean up the mistakes from this trip out west, we have plenty of opportunities to impress pollsters left on the schedule. This ride ain't over yet by a long shot.

2010 NCAA College Football Polls and Rankings for Week 4 - ESPN

It's obvious they were waiting to drop Iowa in the coahes poll. The coaches dropped Iowa 1 spot after the beatdown they put on Iowa State 37-7 last week.

They only dropped Wisconsin 1 or 2 spots after they barely beat an average Arizona State team at home on a blocked PAT not to mention Wisconsin making a tackle at the one foot line to save a touchdown that ended the first half.

Iowa, many times, have recieved less respect then many other programs after a loss and even at times after a win. But here's the good news on that. For better or for worse, the Iowa program under Kirk Ferentz plays much better when they're shown less respect. I think the coaches poll is doing the Hawks a favor dropping them 10 spots.

Look at this a different way. Iowa had a punt blocked and Arizona recoevered on the Iowa 10 yard line. Iowa had a pass go through a receivers hands and was intercepted for an 85 yard TD. Iowa gave up a 100 yard kickoff return for a TD after scoring. Iowa had a PAT blocked that would have given them the lead.

Iowa trailed on the road to the 24th ranked team 27-7 at halftime. Bad and/or lesser teams fold by halftime if not sooner. The Hawks did not. They make a great ocmeback, lose by 7 and have many things that are correctable and will be worked on.

Arizona was the first team we played with any ability. So the rating seems fair. We ended last year strong, but have since found that GT is pathetic. I like trying to build it back up from 18.

Totally agree with this...it's never as good as it seems and it's also never as bad as it seems. Right now it seems pretty bad. However if we are able to win a couple games in a row it will be all sunshine again. That's just the way it goes. I will admit that I'm terribly bummed since I thought we had a chance(however slim) to run the table. However, I have faith in the coaches to take care of some of the critical errors that took us out of our game last night. Still lots of football to be played.

Fluke? lol sorry those are not fluke things they are the other team making things happen...it is almost comical when Iowa gets beat it is not because the other team was better it was fluke plays that caused it.

Sorry man, you are wrong on this...Iowa was the better team last night. No one will change my mind on that. Hope we get them again in the Rose Bowl...if that happens...we win by 2 TDs. Mark it.

Why do you say that Iowa was the better team? It's not like we dominated them statistically.
