Not going to complain about the lack of respect from the writers...however, we just don't generate interest in how good this Iowa team is (or could be). Two different stories in today's print edition that are totally focused on the Pac 10 and Arizona's opportunity to enter the national stage. Just have to believe that Arizona may perhaps be too jacked up for the game.

Well on the main site of espn they have Foles and AZ on the front page... I love it, the Hawks play lights out when they are being disrespected.

It will all work itself out in the end. We are going to go down there and play a great game. We will win by 7-14 points and still get no pub next week. Oh well. We are Iowa and we will be there at the end.

It's how it always is. Iowa is the dog. We're not a glamor program, but UA better not be all cocky when we come down else they are going to get punched in the mouth, that we can always expect from a Iowa team. However, if we win by 14, I think the pub will be good!

The Hawks will get plenty of love WHEN they beat Arizona. I think the love fest will REALLY be on if we beat Penn St., and then Michigan. Everyone will be on the Hawkeye express at that point. Until we prove we can beat some good competition, I won't get worked up about any of this. I actually like the fact that Binns, Ballard, Klug, and Clayborn are probably on a flight right now reading how great Foles is....I don't think I'd want to be Foles tomorrow night......Just saying....

How is it not disrespect? Because not every story in the universe has to be about Iowa. Just because your world revolves around Iowa does not mean the rest of the world's does. The article you are refering to manetions Iowa in the title, and the article is not even about Arizona, but it is about the Pac 10/ Big 10 matchups this weekend.
I am abviously delusional? How many so-called experts have picked Iowa? My guess is probably most of them. Most that I have seen anyways. The ESPN Pac 10 blogger in the article you are complaining about picked Iowa! But I am not the one who needs to feel victimized to get into the game.
No one is disrespecting Iowa. You have an apparant mindset where hype=respect. That is not how it works. So many people seem to equate the two, which is curious.

I wouldn't say that Iowa is being disrespected. However, hype wouldn't exist without the respect of SOMEONE. Think about it, the media wouldn't hype someone just because. They obviously respect them enough to give them some pub.
This post isn't for anyone in particular but I really don't understand why so many Iowa fans week after week and year after year talk about how Iowa doesn't get any respect. PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!!

I hate to break it to people but Iowa is far from disrespected and just about anybody around college football knows how good of a coach KF is and that the Iowa program is as solid as they come. I just don't understand why fans make it a point to post a thread anytime there is a blogger or a writer that doesn't pick us to win a game by 3 touchdowns or put us on the front of their website, magazine, paper, etc.
Who the hell cares?????? I would hope as Iowa fans that people would realize just because you are a fan of the team doesn't mean that everybody else that isn't a fan has to have the same opinion. If they keep winning they will be on the TV shows, in the paper, magazines, and on the websites plenty. It just gets really old reading post after post of people crying about a guy in Anywhereville, USA not bowing down to the wonder that is Iowa Football.

Obviously a lot of people care or there wouldn't be threads or talk about who's doing what. I like being the underdog. I like when the Hawks are the underdog. It's much more fun to come out and beat people when you aren't expected to. To be able to see the look on peoples faces when you're still standing when you were expected to get pushed down. That is what is great about all this. I could care less who picked who and what not, but I just think that the times that we're in right now people have to talk about being disrespected, because they feel this team and coaches proved themselves last year. Why can't Joe fan get upset when his team isn't getting pub?

It really doesn't matter. What DOES matter is that Iowa wins...by 1 point, 14, or 27... preferably the latter, it is much easier on my heart.

The media does not hype players out of respect. In fact, some of the most hyped people in sports, as well as our culture in general, are people who the public at-large generally disrespects.
Do you think Reggie Bush gets hype because of all of the respect for his story? Do you think Michael Vick gets so much hype for his character? Do you think Brett Farve, Paris Hilton, and Kate Goesslin are on magazines because of how much everyone loves them?
I would say that, for the most part, hype is a byproduct of disrespect. Why do USC, ND, and Florida get hyped? People hate them! Why do the Yankees, Lakers, and Cowboys get so much hype? People hate them!

Absolutely could not be more wrong. Those teams and programs are hyped because they win and are champions. Bottom line! People hate them because either you love them or hate them. If you don't have success you will hate it and others associated with it. Hype comes when you show you are a champion and can compete with anyone in the nation. People don't hype Michael Phelps because they hate him, they hype Michael Phelps because he is a champion. Same goes for anyone else who is a champion. You don't hear people in Iowa hyping Iowa State because they hate ISU. Take this garbage somewhere else!
