That big city/program crap is just to get viewers and listeners going. He is just using the Howard Stern rule of radio that even though people hate what you are saying they will still listen to see what else you will say to **** them off so they call and send more emails. It cracks me up that people don't realize that is how you get ratings. If people agreed with everything that somebody says the program would be boring as hell. Sure he believes some of it but a lot of it is just to get the audience going.

He gets it and plays it up a lot, however I don't disagree with his premise even though I think part of it is an act. He talks the big programs and the big cities because that's what people want to hear about people in NYC or LA don't give two rips about Iowa or Purdue.

To say that he doesn't like Iowa or won't talk about them until they win a NC is simply not true, he even said they were a dark horse to win the NC back in 05 and has said plenty of times how much he likes KF. Add to the fact anytime the Big Ten is brought up right after Ohio State, Iowa is next.

My guess is he will rave about how nice his trip was to IC and then in the next breath make a farm or country joke, because that's what he gets paid to do!

Couldn't have said it better myself Hoffa. It is all about ratings, and it works.

Sorry, but I lived the vast majority of my life in a large metropolitan coastal city. It isn't to get people riled up. It is because the vast majority of the population lives in these places.

Why can you make fun of Iowa? Because ticking off ten percent of the population isn't even measurable compared to the people on the coasts. He is playing to the numbers.

He knows even though Iowans might not like his big city schtick, they will still listen because they don't have a large enough population to warrant attention from the national media. The middle of the country is fly over country plain and simple.

I just don't think it is accurate that Cowherd is actually planning his show so that he will rile up people in fly over country to send emails and make calls.

I think it is probably a lot more accurate that he just doesn't give a darn.

Hoffa's point still stands on that front, though. Maybe he doesn't crack jokes about the midwest to rile us up, but I'm guessing that if people in NYC and LA like to make fun of the midwest the same way we make fun of the South, they probably love it when he cracks the jokes. Just giving them what they want.
