Sports Nation

Didn't they say in Kinnick last weekend that Sports Nation was going to be in Iowa City sometime this week. If so what day or did I already miss it. Thanks

The answer is yes. I'd post the link, but every time I try, it says my post needs to be approved by a mod.

I would not step out in the hallway outside my door if Cowturd was broadcasting from there.

I don't think he's really THAT bad, he's just not good with college sports. I like listening to him if he's talking about pro sports, the NFL in particular.

I can't stand to listen to his babbling on any subject. He is not nearly as smart as he thinks he is.

Lol well since when did that make him any different from the rest of us? I think I'm pretty knowledgeable about more than a few things on here, but I still get called an idiot every now and then.

Jim Rome is a guy who doesn't know jack about ANYTHING sports-related, and he's got an even bigger ego than Cowherd. At least Cowherd knows what he's talking about SOME of the time.

I won't even talk to you about Rome, other than to agree he is even worse than the Turd.

Cowherd absolutely knows nothing about college sports and he is a Big City guy. He hates middle-America and can't stand anywhere that isn't within a stone's throw of a major airport.

Basically, he will show up in Iowa and make some cracks about cows and corn, then switch the focus to the NFL and MLB playoffs.

When he gets back in studio he will have some anecdotal story which will paint Iowans in a bad light and continue talking about the NFL and MLB playoffs.

That being said, the Hawks better freaking beat Zona this weekend!

He's not a bad guy or unknowledgeable, he's just EXTREMELY opinionated. I agree with him on lots of stuff and disagree with him on others but I don't think he's in the Jim Rome conversation. The one thing he does that bothers me the most is he seems to ALWAYS skip Iowa when discussing the best teams in the Big Ten. Today he repeatedly said that the Big Ten is better than the SEC this year, and said that outside of Bama, there's no team that the best teams in our conference couldn't beat. Then he said Ohio State would beat X, Y, Z, Wisconsin would beat X, Y, Z. But never a mention of Iowa.

He had Bob Davie on today to discuss college ball since Davie is covering the game this week and Bob kinda took issue with it. He said something along the lines of "You always mention the big schools like Bama and OSU, and you're right that the Big Ten can play with anybody in the country, but the team I'm REALLY keeping an eye on this year is Iowa." Colin was like, "Yeah, that's another really good Big Ten program".

Davie certainly seems to have a bit of a soft spot for us. He's always giving us props whenever he feels like we're being disrespected.

Cowherd might be a total ***, but name a national radio show that spends as much time discussing college football as his does? The answer is no one. Plus Michelle Beadle is hot. Carry on...

Bill King on Rivals radio (XM channel 143). It's an awesome show. King is admittedly an SEC guy, but he gives great coverage to all college football. He is a big fan of KF and The Hawkeyes; he's had KF on his show a number of times.
And he knows his stuff, cold.
Best CFB radio show I've ever listened to. By a wide margin.
"Red seven! Red seven! Hot route!" :D

Cowherd is a complete idiot and so is Rome. The show is cool but Cowherd needs to be eliminated. He knows jack ****. He talked at the end of college basketball season how UNI didn't deserve to be in the tournament unless they won there tournament, and then they go out and beat Kansas.

Again, Cowherd is a big city and big program guy. This has to do with his pro focus. He actually knows what he is talking about with the big programs, but doesn't even try to understand the smaller programs.

I am sure this whole Big Ten swing deal is being forced on him by Fox. I actually heard him say he isn't interested in going anywhere where there isn't a major airport. Telling you, it will be like Michael Jackson holding his nose when he went to Africa.

In the case of Cowherd, only a NC will change this attitude. For the others it won't matter.

Iowa is a punchline to these types.

That big city/program crap is just to get viewers and listeners going. He is just using the Howard Stern rule of radio that even though people hate what you are saying they will still listen to see what else you will say to **** them off so they call and send more emails. It cracks me up that people don't realize that is how you get ratings. If people agreed with everything that somebody says the program would be boring as hell. Sure he believes some of it but a lot of it is just to get the audience going.

He gets it and plays it up a lot, however I don't disagree with his premise even though I think part of it is an act. He talks the big programs and the big cities because that's what people want to hear about people in NYC or LA don't give two rips about Iowa or Purdue.

To say that he doesn't like Iowa or won't talk about them until they win a NC is simply not true, he even said they were a dark horse to win the NC back in 05 and has said plenty of times how much he likes KF. Add to the fact anytime the Big Ten is brought up right after Ohio State, Iowa is next.

My guess is he will rave about how nice his trip was to IC and then in the next breath make a farm or country joke, because that's what he gets paid to do!
