Norm Parker doubtful to make the trip to AZ

I hate this, if he doesn't make the trip to a game like this does he make a call to someone during halftime to assist in 2nd half defensive adjustments?

Hopefully KF will elaborate on Norm during his Iowa presser later today. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Kirk just said that in his teleconference.

It's freaking deja-vu all over again.....Norm missed the ASU trip because of complications from diabetes as well.

I'll tell you what, if it rains before the game and there's a delay, then I'm just going to bed because I've seen this "movie" before and the ending is horrible.

Wishing well for Norm and family. I don't see this being the same scenario as 2004. This defense is way better!

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this post. A lot of truth in that final sentence.

Wasn't 04 the game with Adam Shada's first start? Didn't he just get molested that game if I remember correctly? I'd say Shada was more responsible for what happened that night than the person who was calling the D (Ron Aiken, I believe?).

Poor guy... we'll be prepared but you know its gotta be killing him to not be there. The writing is on the wall here guys.

As much as we appreciate what he's done for the team, you can't have a DC that misses chunks of the season. Here's to a speedy recovery and a hopeful return to the team this season!

Jovon Johnson and Antwan Allen...

started that one. So hard to see how Shada was responsible for Iowa getting beat 44-7. Did Shada play offense too that game? Iowa had 6 first downs and 100 yards of total offense. ASU threw for 435 yards and ran for 76 more, a beating of epic proportions.

so do they call the D by committee, or is someone the designated DC? if i heard right, sounds like they did it by committee last week.

Its a loss but Im not worried. Its not like his health problems are new so Im sure there is somethign in place when this happens. I hope he gets well however at his age with that condition Im sure Kirk is preparing for this to be a regular occurence.

LETS WIN A NC FOR NORM!

I heard it was Darrell Wilson making the calls last week, can anyone confirm or deny?

Good God he has been gone 3 years and still gets ****, come on if anything blame Tate, the O didn't even have 100 yards of total offense that night and if you can't move the ball to score it doesn't matter if the D gave up 3 or 44.

You must be on crack or something. Norm has missed parts of previous seasons and he was never shown the door, in fact following those absences he went on to build two of the best defences of the KF era. Furthermore KF has said that the DC job is Norm's for as long as he wants it.

weak post. I bet you sit behind me as well and yell at KOK for his playcalling and at Norm for not blitzing

I am not on crack, and I certainly want Norm to stay, and he has earned the right to go out on his own terms... but I don't think he's missed two games in a row in either of the previous two seasons.

First off I want to give all of the best wishes to Norm to get better and get back to coaching if he desires. He is certainly an icon for Hawkeye fans and for fans of college football and we certainly wish him all the best.

Secondly, I hate to speculate that this is the end of Norm's time as a defensive coordinator; especially with knowing VERY little of the facts about Norm's condition, his ambitions to continue coaching, etc. But you do have to wonder based off the circumstances if another coach (Darrell Wilson, Rick Kazcenski, or Phil Parker) has been vetted for the position or if they are within a process of trying to find Norm's successor.

Again I wish Norm good health and a return to coaching if he chooses to.
