Vanderbilt

Probably the last time he gets to play in a relevant game in a long time, if ever.
Yep. I don't see him translating whatsoever to the NFL. People are saying as a receiver etc, but there are PLENTY ahead of him with 4 years of game film that will come to fruition first.

Iowa's rushing defense stats are a pretty similar story. Shut down the bad teams, got run over by the good rushing teams.

Vandy held 5 teams under 100. Charleston S, Georgia St, South Carolina, Kentucky and Tenn
Iowa held 5 teams under 100 Albany, UMass, Rutgers, Minn and Mich St

Vandy gave up 210 to Auburn, 170 to Mizzou and 146 to Bama
Iowa gave up 261 to Oregon, 231 to Nebraska and 173 to Penn St

Iowa's O line is outstanding, but Vandy's run D won't be a pushover.

The Iowa defense's biggest weakness against the run this year was up the middle, specifically weak at middle linebacker. Graves was very good at defensive tackle. Transfers Pace and Hawthorne performed up to expectations but were a little overmatched against elite offensive linemen. Sharer at WLB was good and improved as the season went on. Harrell at MLB was in the land of the lost early in the season. I'm trying to remember a weaker MLB under either Ferentz or Fry. Montgomery was adequate at MLB but just that.

The five defensive backs were a little lost as a unit early on got better by leaps and bounds. They were quite formidable in October & November. Tackling could be an issue at times. They had plenty of squirrels to chase around the field this year, for sure.

Nile Kinnick was the best I never saw

I borrowed Dad's model T and drove to Iowa City on Hwy 6. Along the way we stopped off at a speak easy to pick up some bathtub Gin. I spilled a lot of it on my Racoon Skin coat. We cheered Whoo Rahh Whoo Ray - I.O.W.A. all the way. We saw the Corn Belt Comet, boy was he swell!
