30 million NIL for Campbell

Didn't Iowa have like $10 mil this year?

NIL and transfer portal continues to ruin the sport.
I'm not sure I don't think I've ever heard a number for what we've got. I've heard that MG got between 1 and 2 million himself. But it was just a floated out there rumor not an actual report that I'd seen. The schools with a lot of $ don't seem to have a problem advertising it though. Since Iowa doesn't I would imagine we don't exactly have anywhere close to what the others do.

Honestly it doesn't matter if NIL gets capped. The schools with huge money will just shift it to private donations and endorsements going to players. Schools are already doing that now preemptively trying to get ahead of the eventual salary caps.

In the Cedar Rapids Gazette AP article about the various college football championship games was two short paragraphs about Texas Tech. Here's the second paragraph:
"After investing millions of dollars in the transfer portal, the Red Raiders won their first Big 12 title."

"Amateur" and "college football/college basketball" should never be used in the same sentence. Call it what it is: "Semi-pro" or "minor league".

1000% They just have 2 ways to receive it is all. The NIL side is just that there's no policing it I can't see how based on how the Supreme court ruled. Can schools police themselves? Sure if that makes them feel better but it won't change how the NIL side of it actually works and they all know it. Does it matter to the kid where the $ comes from? If it's all green I bet they don't

The terms of the House Settlement evened things out a little bit for schools like Iowa. Iowa can afford to pay the rev share, unlike schools like Iowa State and Colorado that are going into the red in their athletic departments because they don't have the extra 20 million laying around for the kids. That is what a Big 10 TV deal versus a Big 12 TV deal gets you. There is some NIL money at Iowa. Its not top end, but its there.

Can we keep up with the Joneses elite in the SEC and Big 10? No. But, are we in a better spot than the lower half of those conferences and most of the rest of the other conferences? You bet. The Blue Bloods are still going to get the talent they want. But, there are only so many roster spots at those top 15 schools. We cannot compete with that. But, we have a leg up on the rest of the field and I think that is reflected in the class we just signed who know there is a decent chance KF is not there when they graduate but they signed at Iowa anyway.
