Kaden Wetjen Iowa Western cc

I don't know. Do any NFL teams devote one of their 53 man spots to a punt returner? Jones and Smith Marsette were accomplished WRs by their senior years. King had won the Thorpe award.

Wetjen is a 5'9" WR with 19 career college receptions. I'll be pulling for him hard but I'd think even making an NFL team as an undrafted free agent would be a pretty big accomplishment.

If Phil Knight or Mark Cuban want to give him $2M guaranteed to be big man on campus, can you turn it down? I couldn't.

And that's the conundrum make some money now, or potentially declare for the draft and take that risk of not making the 53 man roster. I suppose it's hard to gauge what potential earnings are in the NFL versus NIL for a wide receiver/special team specialist.

I do know prior to the NIL that Iowa coaching staff was pretty good about counseling players on what their opportunities or projection would be in the NFL draft. I do believe our program does a good job of setting athletes up for success to make that transition.
