I think based on the number of traditional top school with openings- this will be an oddity - the overall number might be similar in future years, but I don't think we will see this number of high profile schools with openings on a routine basis. Will this be a yearly ordeal or is it an oddity.
Great question. I think it's a bit of an oddity in that it's circumstantial with where are all of these programs are situationally right? LSU they've had Kelly there long enough now where they've just had enough. Same with PSU and Franklin. Those weren't snap decisions even though they happened during the season like this. Will this be a yearly ordeal or is it an oddity.
My curiosity will be will the trend to hire a big name coach begin to fade? With the advent of NIL and etc, will it be such a splash to hire a big name coach if you can just throw money at a program? Instead will they hire a young coach who is savvy and can recruit over a fella with measured success?

Probably should have added in "or coaches with less of D1 pedigree" Cignetti has done well but nothing at the Power 5 level. I think he coached at James Madison and Elon and IU (Indianapolis). While having success at those levels, he is actually a good example of a program going with a lesser known name and having instant success (with NIL help).
