Predict your starting 5 for the starting game

Good way to start to know your team. I am listing what I think will be game 1.

here's where I am at
1. Bennet Stirtz
2. Brendan Hausen
3. Cooper Koch (I think Tavian Banks was probably here before the altercation in DT IC)
4. Cam Manyawa
5. Alvaro Folgueiras

I am pretty bullish on that squad. And if any of those guys take a play off on defense, they are getting yanked immediately.

They are gonna stack a lot of Ws in conference play. If the core stays healthy, I'm calling top 5 in the Big Ten.

Hard to argue with your 5. Stirtz, Hausen and Folgueiras seem like locks. I agree Manyawu over Jirak at the 5 although I'd like a 5 taller than 6'8". A case can be made for Koch although I'm intrigued about the positive press Trey Thompson is getting.

Seeing the wings on this team develop should be lots of fun.

Totally agree with you. The 3 spot is only one I see up for grabs at all. If Koch is shooting lights out and defending well enough it'll just be tough to keep him off the floor. Banks isn't a shooter and more of an energy guy that till now has only really came off the bench so I say keep that role for him going. Giving Stirtz 3 other guys that can spread the floor and shoot will give him so much more room to operate. I think that's the route Ben will go

As big of an Iowa Basketball fan as I have been in the past, it seems bizarre to me that I only recognize two of the names on your starting unit and one (Stirz) because of the publicity he came with. Ought to be an enlightening development for me when the games actually start. As usual, I can't wait.
same, like I typically even know most of the guys coming in's games, but honestly, have no idea what to expect from this squad and how they are going to play or what roles everyone will play. I thought it'd be fun to at least speculate new territory for all of us.

Imo, the starting lineup doesn’t matter a ton. It will be a 7 man rotation, maybe 8, if someone unexpected pops. With the lack of depth, foul trouble and injuries will kill this team. Obviously, that kills most teams, but if you look at the roster, you can see the line of demarcation...you can see who will get heavy minutes and who won’t.

Yeah it's all going to be interesting to me with how the rotation kinda goes and the mixing and matching. The guards who'll be coming off the bench Combs and Howard how much are they going to play backing up Stirtz and Hausen? Or is Howard more in the mix to start at the 3 with Koch and Banks battling it out to coming off the bench first?

Then the 2 freshman that I think are going to play Thompson and Jirak how will they fit in?

My guess is whatever the rotation kinda looks like the first handful of games won't be what it'll be in late Feb/March. Bens going to have his work cut out for him but it should be fun.

We are pretty much playing with the team Drake would have had this year without coaching change. I just don’t know much about these players. I guess the question is where would Drake finish in the Big Ten
