Barta interview with Tirrell

I caought part of it, did Marty get on him about the new rules? I know Marty doesnt drink so he might not have made a good case...

I caught part of Kakert's interview yesterday on Matt and Miller...he talked about how he was on a show in Eastern Iowa during the noon hour and field some calls from Hawk fans. Said quite a few talked about how they were "harrassed"....primarily those in the KC lots behind the pressbox. (Not trying to rehash what's already been discussed at length on this site---just passing along what he said).

Overall I thought Barta did a good job. Admitting they made mistakes last Saturday and they are working hard to correct them.

Heard it yesterday while driving. Was nice to hear Barta say he realizes mistakes were made last weekend with the police being up in peoples faces and extra hardcore.

He also said he believe Iowa has one of the best, if not the best, tailgating atmospheres in the country and he doesn't want to lose that. I'm taking that to hopefully mean that the cops will be toned down a bit.

Aside from that, Marty is such fire starter. He kept trying to get Barta to admit the Iowa/ISU rivalry is on its last leg, and Barta kept repeating he doesn't want to lose the game and sees several scenarios where the rivalry stays. Of course Marty wouldn't let it go and eventually got a soundbite of Barta saying maybe the game would be interrupted for a few years while things get sorted out but he didn't think it would ever be gone for good. Can you guess which part of the quote Marty chose to dwell on and re-air?

Yea, Marty had a stat of something like 120+ citations on Saturday and only 12 for underage drinking. Barta admitted they made some mistakes but also said if you're doing something illegal and expect us to look the other way because its tailgate, thats not going to happen.

I heard that people (adults) were drinking bloody mary's in the morning and the cops asked what they were drinking and subsequently dumped out the vodka they used for their drink (which wasn't out in the open) and then gave them a ticket for having hard liqour. Ouch. I understand the open container laws and public intox, but I am kinda laothing going to Iowa City this weekend if this is how its gonna be.

If the Big Ten goes to nine conference game the CyHawk is dead.
