One down!

No, with a new coach. I don’t think there’s anyway you bring Fran back.
Well from what people are saying about the arena being half full what choice do you have? Apathy has set in.

It's not necessary Fran's fault. NIL did a kill to Iowa sports. If you don't have the money to buy players then you damn well better have a dynamic coach that draws in great players because of the type of coach he is. It's the only way.

I still hate the timing of having such a good class coming in.
Yeah. Well, 2 little to late. I’m with you that Fran is a great coach, I don’t have faith we’ll upgrade. I think it CAN get worse. I’d bet on it. But whatever. Let’s go Hawks! I’m team Beth, she was brought here to do this.

Man, I have a hard time thinking Fran is a great coach with the problems on defense we have seen over his time at Iowa. He certainly has the offense figured out for the most part, but the defense is usually terrible.

When I look at the landscape of college sports and the state of higher education I don't see a good future for either. Both are in the toilet bowl as far as I'm concerned. Higher Ed is priced too high, facing declining enrollment, and offering worthless diplomas. They are using college sports to attract students and sacrificing academic principles to keep athletes on the payroll.

During the introduction of the players they mentioned one Illinois player at his 3rd school, two that were from Europe, and one that was from Canada. I'm pretty sure those dudes aren't in Champaign Urbana for a STEM degree. I'm not sure Iowa is squeaky clean either.

Against this backdrop fans expect Iowa to compete with a coach and a llimited recruitment base. Just how many concessions would a new coach need in order to be competitive? What is going too far to compete? Reality, changing coaches now does nothing to address the problems.

Ililni 20-22 on free throws

Hawka 2-7

Rather a discrepancy
I am sick of this bullshit. Officiating has cost us several games.
Conventional wisdom about officials not costing teams games is absolutely wrong.
We never ever get calls in our favor inside the lane, because we are undersized. So, bias prevailed. How else do explain that we went down after Owen’s injury? Question: Has Iowa under Fran ever been prone to fouling? And, under Fran, when have ever Not gotten to the free throw line well ahead of our opponents, and often won games at the line? Officials have given the game over to rediculous physical play under the rim. And hand checking away from the basket has been ignored. Small wonder that Fran finally got ejected tonight. He was totally fed up, and if you listened to his radio interviews post game on the radio, all season, you would understand his total frustration.
Go ahead and chalk my post up to a stupid rant. I am right on this one.
