Iowa/OSU game thread

Listening to Fran talk about help and recover you almost cringe…they have always struggled with that under his tenure.

That is where Harding has to get better. When you spread the floor and he has to break down guys off the dribble.
Are you saying Harding needs to get better at breaking guys down off the dribble? It seems like he does almost every time down the floor. He needs to get better at finishing over big guys once he does. But no one can stay in front of him. He's a shifty SoB.

He can't coach defense or find any assistant coaches that can.

His style will get you in some tournaments and is fun to watch - but is not a style that will win in the NCAA

In the NCAA teams play desperate defense and they don't call fouls.

Iowa will give you a bunch of easy baskets but won't get any in return in those types of games.

Hence one of the reasons Frans style will never equate to ncaa tournament success.

I think you nailed it here.

Watch when they spread the floor and he has to go iso there are guys who can stay in front of him. And he doesn’t have the size to back people down.

I actually like the pace of this game for Iowa. Grinding games out in the 60’s is where they struggle.
