This team is a tough sell for me...

I dunno but I'm having a tough time getting into this years team. They are so Kris Murray dependent. Feels like a one man team. Rebracca is ok but he doesn't move the needle. PM is way too inconsistent. Same with TP. He's had a couple good games but he's had some bad ones too. We just have too many guys that aren't able to do what their roles are like Sandfort and Ulis that just blows up everything they need to have done to be successful against good teams. Hell even against bad teams too for that matter now. It feels like they are a just one more bad loss away from having their confidence blown and this season going down the toilet.

Basketball looks like a chore to them. When they show emotion it's not joy, it's a release of frustration. We need to come out vs Indiana with the same effort Nebraska did vs us. Or like we did vs Iowa State. But mostly they just need to come out and enjoy themselves.

Bingo. If your not having fun playing basketball, it makes everything else that much harder and mundane.

I'm not sure if Iowa should just play a lot of 4 out 1 in, spread it out in the half-court, make use of high-low, ball-screens, drive and kick. Just have fun with it.

Good observation. I couldn't agree more. It's exactly what it seems like to them. Murray obviously doesn't show much regardless. But Rebraca TP they seem to show the most and it's often just as you said. I don't know if pressure is getting to them all some or what..

What doubly sucks (for me) is that Gard has settled in up at Wisconsin when I thought he would be in over his head and their back to winning every close game and getting contributions from guys who look like they should be accounting TA's.

All they need to do is start making postseason runs and they're right back to the Bo Ryan days.. And they lost their versions of Keegan and JBo as well.

We miss JBo way more then some folks thought we would... It's not just his shooting either witch is blatantly obvious. But his ball handling and running the O as well. Offensively this team is just not what they should be and what we had gotten used to.

This team is a tough sell, and with no portal finds, it's depth was razor thin. Maybe we all should have seen this coming as we've lost 2 guys to the NBA early. Fran has done well and had success but I don't think we're quite at the level where we can afford to just absorb that kind of hit and keep on ticking. I was hopeful Iowa wouldn't need a rebuild year, it's apparent that's not the case. I will still watch and hope for signs that things are turning around. I still like Iowa on Thursday.

When we graduate Philip, Conner, lose Murray to the NBA, next season is potentially a disaster. Who will start? I don’t even want to consider losses in the portal. Big man? Big time scorer? New recruits come in this summer. Help there?

I know we have our hands full just getting through this season.

It's gonna have to be Pat, Perkins, Ulis, Sandfort, and a rotation of Bowen and Dix, and that's a huge yikes because at least two of those guys not named Patrick will transfer. Could be a Lick year next year.

Maybe someone can come up with a million or two for Murray to stay.

The Swarm is going to have to shell out money for some dudes.

The position that could help everything would be PG. They need production and leadership from that spot. Ulis has been a net negative in that role. So as far as next yr goes Fran has really put a lot of eggs in Bowens basket to take the ball and run with it... Might be a big ask but that'd sure cover up our lack of size in the front court to an extent. I think Rebracas going to find it tougher sledding going forward now in league play...

What sucks is the transfer wildcard. We know from past history that we'll lose a couple guys, and after Ulis things on the rest of the roster fall off WAY fast.

I think we gotta just keep playing Peyton and hope that he works it out....if he leaves his brother aint coming here either. I am sure that Conner will start now and that's because outside of Murray, he's our best outside threat. Who ever thought we'd say that. Things aren't great. I still like us Thursday.

We have four freshmen coming in next year too. Trying to be optimistic (it's hard right now) but Bowen could turn into a really good player. Sandfort could find his shot. Perkins could play like the last half of last year. Patrick could make another decent jump. Then a couple freshmen could contribute something like Woody, Gesell, or Bohannon their freshmen years.

It's hard to imagine next year's team being an improvement over this year's tho. That makes a rebuild year this year harder to swallow. If we miss the tourney two years in a row, the program might be in trouble again.

Kris isn't coming back no matter what. Because of his age, he is already on the clock, a million or two wouldn't be enough for him to stick around.

They have a top 30 recruiting class, but there is no immediate impact guys coming in. They have to go in the portal and get guys and spend money...we all know that is what has to happen.

What sucks so bad about the transfer situation is now teams/programs can't really count on guys being there the next year. The situation is always fluid and teams need to have a contingency plan. But, planning is difficult if you have no idea who is really committed. Wow.

I hadn't even considered Peyton leaving... Maybe I should've. I mean he's having a rough rough yr so far. He may want to drop down a level and see if he could have more fun. And yeah you're right his little bro is probably a packaged deal.

Peytons follow through on his jumper isn't how one is taught to do it. He has his hand and wrist pointed to the right on it. Normally one wants their elbow wrist and index finger all pointed at the front of the rim. It's an unorthodox looking shot the more I watch of him. It's tough to be consistent I would think with it.

True The transfer portal is the largest X factor ever. I hadn't even considered the thought of say Peyton leaving and the domino effect of if say he left and then his brother not coming. InGood brought that up and man that'd shake things up but it's possible...

And when I mentioned transfers I meant that even before the free transfer rule and NIL came into effect we always had a guy or two leaving. Free transfer might make it a little worse.
