usually this time of year Goof FB nary gets a mention. Not tonight, half the sports cast was reliving the legendary win. Then they made a special segment starring Darrell Thompson...basically boiling it down to 'glory days are here again'. Never mind that a lot of the folks that remember the old Goof glory days are dead, or wearing depends.

They're probably starved for a feel good sports story. Minneapolis/St. Paul has probably been the worst professional sports town in America since Gary Anderson shanked that field goal in the NFC Championship game 20 years ago. Now the Vikings and Twins at least are competitive and the Gophs are having a season for the ages.

The funny thing is how Anderson made a field goal for Tennessee about five years later to knock the Ravens out of the playoffs. Brian Billick, who by all accounts is a pompous ass, was on the losing end both times. (Offensive coordinator for the '98 Vikings, head coach for the '03 Ravens)
Billick, in addition to being a condescending ego case, was a mediocre coach who allowed his assistants to squabble amongst themselves and largely buried his head in the sand concerning the Ravens' debauchery in the early 2000's. He is easily one of the five worst coaches to ever win a Super Bowl.

The more they slobber all over themselves the more I love it. They got their heads so far up in the clouds that the collective thud of them hitting the ground at Kinnick will be a sweet sweet melody for us all.
I love watching PJ crowd surf in the locker room while all the MinnyScrotum fans swoon over their golden boy. I chuckle to myself when he ends every post game interview with "Row The Boat, Ski-U-mah, go Gophers!!"

Let them have their glory for awhile. I think the hawks can win all these games and they barely lost in their three losses. So if the hawks win it will somewhat burst the minny bubble.
Minny coaches have always had a problem stringing together multiple good years in a row.

We should not be ripping them but trying to better them. Unfortunately for us they have an enthusiastic, motivational coach who is not afraid to be agggresive.
We are in the death throes of our program (Yeah, im exaggerating), but you get my point. And Minny is on the way up.
Watch out or we will be battling for 3rd every year. Oh wait, already there.

I, for one, think it’s GOOD for them. About time. I have been to 5 IA games up there over the years, plus visited MOA a couple other times with family. Was always SHOCKED walking around how FEW ppl walked around with Gopher apparel, or even barely acted like they existed. Could barely find any Gopher products in stores, etc. Was all about the Vikings, and other pro teams there. I think it’s cool they are all embracing it, for once

Has anyone watched Minnesota this year? They are legit . I would be surprised if we stay within two touchdowns
Pump the brakes. Their O is good. Their D is vulnerable. Gave up over a half a thousand to PSU. Note that I did not mention the Hawks will actually take advantage.
I wish Iowa would take a look at what PJ is doing offensively. They have a lot of similarities to Iowa but are much more successful.
They are one of the few teams like Iowa that still value TOP and want to wear down opponents. He wants a physical OL and a good running game. They also take shots down the field but they don't pass that much. They want to run more than pass. It helps when you have an accurate QB. And they do.

If Minnesota plays like they did against PSU, I don't think it matters what Iowa does. Iowa will have a limited number of possessions and I don't think they'll score enough on them to stay close.
For Iowa to win, this is going to have to be a Kirk-ball game. Hope to God than Phil has the D ready and the Gophers make unforced errors.
