Minnesota and Wisconsin both control their own destiny at this point. Iowa can't again, unless Minnesota loses to someone other than Iowa.

My point is there is zero chance Minny escapes with just one conference loss.

They still have to play Penn State, @iowa, and Wisconsin. They go 1-2 against that group at best.

Wisconsin can lose 2 more games if/when they beat us. We would both have 3 losses and they would win the head to head. We are not going to win the west, my God what do some people smoke on here. We will be lucky to beat Minnesota and Illinois at home.

I expect our defense to keep us in every game with the exception of the Wisconsin game. If someone told me I had to put ten grand on our chances of winning out I would say how about ten bucks because I can afford to donate that.

I am just saying IF we did win out we would win the conference. I don’t see Minnesota beating Penn State or Wisconsin. If we won out we would have two losses to Minnesota’s three (expecting losses to Penn State and Wisconsin). Iowa and Wisconsin would each have two losses if we beat them (might hit the lotto too) and since we beat them in head to head competition we would represent the West.

How do we know that though? Just as unsure as Iowa winning out. But given what we’ve seen from Minnesota so far that is more likely than Iowa. Also, did Iowa suddenly become less predictable and more offensively creative because Wisconsin lost? This shows that Illinois is not going to be an easy win either now and Iowa still has to play them.

Minnesota has beat the weakest teams in the conference thus far and it’s starts to get real now. They have yet to play a contender. This isn’t Minnesota’s first rodeo of pretending to be a contender by having a very soft schedule the first part of the season.

As much as I hate to admit, it may be a super hollow 7-0 for the furry Goofballs, but it is what it is. I am hoping they crash down over their last 3 games (history in our favor, Goofs haven't been relevant since the 60's). If they win even one of those, they may represent the West to get destroyed by OSU.

Running game is an issue, but it's not the "problem". The problem is schizo play-calling. That, and using our FB inside the opponent's 40-yard line.

I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it: get rid of the FB. Use an extra TE to motion, utilize as H-back, etc., Even when we used the FB on a fake, it sucked.

But...if we are going to continue using a FB, use on who is credible as a runner, i.e., a Weisman type. What we are doing now isn't working, and all it does is invite a 9- or 10-men in the box from the opposing defense. With no audibles to pass, apparently.

From what I have seen, Minnesota definitely has the tools. Question becomes, will they hold up if challenged by someone with the equal number/effectiveness level of said tools.

Ferentz only, not Chryst, or Frost, or Fitz? Several folks were calling for Minny to contend or win the West, Deace being one of them. Like him or not, he has a pretty good eye for calling preseason predictions.

We have had one game all season where we scored a touchdown every Quarter and that’s Middle Tennessee. Keep in mind we played Purdue , Miami Ohio and Rutgers . That’s some of the worst defenses in the country . The reality is our offense is actually terrible .
