So far two of the teams looking to contend for the West are not looking good. Minnesota didn't have the power house opening they expected. They've got some serious work to do. Purdue's defense looked bad. Real bad. Offensively they looked good in spots. Without a running game they are looking like the Purdue of old.

Rutgers got a win but..... It's against U Mass. Rutgers QB is alright, just alright. He would be a backup on most of the B1G teams. They have some good running backs. Hope they enjoy the win, the plane ride home next week won't be nearly as fun.

Need Iowa to make a statement win tonight!

After Rutgers embarrassing start (down 21-7 to UMass, one of the worst teams in FBS) they started to play some good football.

Looks like we have to stop 3 guys:
Melton, WR, is a speed burner. Former track star.

Hakeem Basheer - pretty good RB

Pacheco - another good RB

Iowa State looking about like we expect in their first half. Stout defense. But I don't think UNI has the horses to test them deep. Good pursuit. Penetration. Good d line play.

Offense. Their line play isn't great and they are playing UNI. If they were playing Iowa today it might be a real problem for them. Between the twenties they aren't bad. Inefficient in the red zone so far. But it's the first game. And they have a bye before Iowa heads to Ames.

How the heck does direct TV mess up negotiations for fox. And yet they still charge a local sports fee.
