I want the kids to end with a couple wins. Ultimately it doesn't mean anything, but even with their defensive shortcomings(much of which I put more on the coaching), I've seen enough fight/effort to want them to finish with a win or two.
So brutal.
This is the laziest Iowa team I've ever watched.
Correct answer. This one can’t get over fast enough and the best thing is that, barring going o-fer next year, 2018/19 will almost have to be an improvement however small.I just want it to end. Win, lose, tie, forfeit, apocalypse...whatever it takes. Just let it end.
I wouldn’t say they gave up. They are a group that I believe wants to be good, but they have no idea how to work to get there. They still get excited. They still get pumped up when things go well, but they just think showing up gets them a trophy. I hadn’t watched a game in a month and watched some of the Indiana game and I came away thinking that they clearly think they are better than they are and don’t have a coach that knows how to set them straight. I think Fran makes it worse because they hear his hyperbole and they believe it. They are the equivalent of a kid who gets participation ribbons their whole life and then when they have to actually earn something, they don’t know how.Certainly dont want to lose any, but these players gave up a long time ago. Their lazy dee and weak uncommited passes along with the most " And One" lazy fouls I have ever see in my lifetime, as well as the worst baseline defense ever......yeah your right lets get this season over please.... I mean we can go on and on.....but who wants to...I am tired.
Recruiting is really Fran’s only major shortcoming as a coach (his close score endgame is pretty baffling sometimes, though). This group doesn’t have a single player who’d even get a passing glance from Europe (maybe Garza in a few years), and that’s really inexcusable on a P5 team. The ball was dropped on this class, BAD, and that’s on him. These guys are uncoachable on defense; they just don’t have the skill set to play in the Big Ten. It’s not hyperbole, either. Look at the Hawks non-con losses this year and it’s proof that these guys would have a hard time beating a lot of NAIA teams on the defensive side of the ball.Fran is George Raveling minus the overall excellent recruiting.

You’re always going to have a few players like that on your team unless you’re Duke or ‘Nova, but you can’t have 16 of them.
Unless you're in the arena, it really doesn't matter. There are no vibes, jinxes, etc.I'll never root for a Hawkeye team to lose.
Prove it! Does that means thoughts and prayers are useless too?!?! Blasphemy!Unless you're in the arena, it really doesn't matter. There are no vibes, jinxes, etc.
Did he learn that directly from Kirk or pick it up on his own? What if Fran's strategy is secretly brilliant?
Each of Fran's first 6 seasons the team improved their record from the previous season. Then he gets an extension in the offseason and tanks this season intentionally so that he can hit the reset button and "show improvement" year after year for the next 6 years and get another extension.
mad genius plot to get long term job security and the phat dollar bills?
Yes, but for a different reason.Does that means thoughts and prayers are useless too?!?!
