Howe: Wisconsin Puts Hawkeyes Back in Their Place

Just when it looked like Iowa had figured things out on offense, it reverted back to its troubling way from earlier this season. That it came against rival Wisconsin was a punch to the gut, writes HN's Rob Howe:

There really is no excuse for the "dean of the big ten coaches" and making millions a year fielding a team to deliver a grade school level effort. like this inept offering...if you are a coach with this crap...man up and admit it...I apologize for this joke...it is on me...Wisconsin put us in our place, again, and I don't have a clue about what to do...so I will deflect, make excuses and blame overly demanding fans...

Iowa lost their fake ID with this embarrassment...

"Ferentz balked at the suggestion that the Badgers hold a distinct advantage in program status right now."

Thanks Rob. Do me a favor, be the first to cease and desist with references to the OSU game hence forth

We'll always have Ohio State.

Camp Randall was as loud as I've heard a stadium. James Daniels said it affected him. I also think Stanley was rattled at times. Outside of ISU, it's not been a good year on the road.

Nice for Wisconsin if they were loud enough to disrupt Iowa...their only two challenging games...and that definition is a stretch are Iowa and Michigan, at home...cupcake schedule made in heaven.

It'd be great if there was a better way to balance schedules. In fairness to Wisconsin, it can only play who's put in front of it. Also, when it scheduled BYU, it didn't know it would suck as bad as it does. It's usually at least a respectable game.

Agree on schedules...but Wisconsin's total schedule of opponents' records is probably under .500.

Iowa feasted on such scheduling the past two prior years, IIRC...making Iowa look better than advertised, when going up against someone like Stanford...

Perhaps Michigan can dump the Badgers next week...

  1. "First off...I just received a question from a faithful, life long fan...Bob Corncob from Orange City, he asked what it is like to be the head coach at Iowa...haha...I don't listen to much of that stuff from the outside, block it out...but I might answer Bob's question...It is a pretty tough job sometimes here, at the top, we have all really worked hard this year, Brian has shown a lot of really good coaching ability, happy with a win at Iowa State and that big win vs OSU...been a long time for that one...hahaha...so overall a good year, another bowl, still a lot of fans complain, I don't even read the forums...players just didn't execute at key times, too many mistakes...well, there are always a few that can't be pleased, comes with the job...gets tough for me and Brian "pause for sympathy from fans who think...sure hope we don't lose the Ferentz family) but we keep on going, know the lay of the land, still a very good year."

Just working up some Kirk material when 6-6 Iowa heads to Detroit for their bowl game...

At this point 6-6 is a foregone conclusion. In typical Ferentz fashion we saw a great performance last week, and then decided to do a 180 the next week and not do or even try any of the things that worked against OSU. It's like he wants us to look like crap. It pisses me the f*** off.
