Here we are again without the starting QB named less than two week before kickoff. Seems to be the norm for KF. Doesn't want to man up and hurt someones feelings. Ridiculous!!!

Well, last time he "announced", he lost a QB and we played 3/4 of a season with a less-than-100% QB, and it carried over into the following season...

When KF has had a starter in the past to announce - he's announced it. Hell, he once announced in January.

Now he has an actual competition and he's being roasted for it taking to long? It's not uncommon for teams with no clear incumbent to wait until game week to announce.

Iowa fans are tough to please. I see getting upset over losing seasons but not announcing the starting QB 2 weeks before the first game?

Of course it is. But it's probably close or closer then we'd want to think .... and lord know's coaching staffs, this one in particular have got it wrong before. I don't get what posters don't get about that. Coaching staffs pick the wrong guy A LOT... I mean it happens at every level.

If Wiegers were to transfer to a FBS team, he could play without sitting out a year, right? Would he have to be enrolled in a school before the season started to be eligible to play at that school?

I would doubt he transfers at this point. The season is upon us. I could see him graduating and transferring either at semester or in the spring if he doesn't play this fall.

Wasn't sure if you'd heard anything through the grape vine possibly preparing ya for such an announcement. My guess is we'll know whenever they throw out the depth chart prior to the game.

Depth chart should be released on Friday.

Kakert was on 1700 today with Condon and Brinson. From what he has heard after the scrimmage on Friday, Stanley will be named the starting QB tomorrow.

I think its best that the top two guys always be named "Co-Starter" for the opening game. Its important to show the team that both guys are good and deserve to be starters.

They'll name a starter - it's not at all odd or a bad sign that they haven't yet. And - I love how posters like to make this seem like it's a Kirk thing. That he has a hard time picking the right guy - when it happens to nearly every coaching staff several times through their careers. Evaluating the best QB in CFB can often be pretty difficult because there's typically not a ton of separation that can be determined in non live drills and CFB has no pre-season. Also - in most cases - the difference between 1 and 2 often aren't glaring.

Sam Darnold at USC - he lost out to a couple of guys before winning the starting roll.
