Those Cook highlights were maybe the best I've ever seen from an Iowa player. His combination of strength, quickness, and explosiveness is hard to match. His ball handling is really the only thing that slowed him down last year and he looks much improved there.
I have to say that Daily is looking like a very intriguing prospect. His shot is so smooth. If' he really is 6'7", now, as I've read, he could become very valuable at 1 through 3.
If Cook improves his mid range-outside jumper the dude will be in the NBA after next yr... He's just too big and athletic to not be. He seems to have improved his handle and that just makes him scary good as a college player. I think we better enjoy him this year cause this may be all we get of him.
He might be here 2 more seasons, but you're right about the jumper. I do see him as a tweener in the NBA, so I could see him not evaluated high enough after this season. But, I could be wrong about that also.![]()
Here's what might keep him hanging around longer and that's if he starts shooting more outside jumpers and not hitting them... Knowing that's his ticket to the big show he may try showcasing that/working on it and if he isn't that good at it this yr then there ya go.. Even if he could just get good at the Tim Duncan 15 foot range jumper he'd do some serious damage. A guy like that doesn't have to be raining in 3s necessarily (even though that's what the NBA is still going to) There's still room in the NBA for a traditional 4 man. Especially one that can get up and down the floor like him. Remember back when Karl Malone was running the floor? We all thought he was a heck of a 4 man for filling the lane on fast breaks (and he was) but Cook would just about run circles around and jump over Malone as athletic as he is and they are about the same size.He might be here 2 more seasons, but you're right about the jumper. I think ar this point your assessment is 100% correct and that Cook needs to look no further than the opinion you have expressed, and just develope to his full potential by staying and completing all four years of eligibility.![]()
Yeah there may have been a tad of hyperbole in my rant there...haha. Here I am comparing a college kid to a couple of NBA hall of famers...I don't know about running circles around the "mailman" but TC does have that sort of game. A good jumper will help him expand it, for sure.

I'd certainly think so if you remember back to how Malone was early on. He had no midrange jumper then. He was a back to the basket bull his way to the rim guy that shot a ton of free throws. And he had to get better at those. Later in his career is when he turned into the pick and roll jump shooting guy he did.Sometimes you have to use hyperbole to make a point.hyperbole or not, I think the mailman is an apt comparison, from a potential perspective.

For reference.
DJ Wilson (17th pick)
240/6'10.5" with shoes/ 7'3" wingspan
37% 3P / 83% FT
Caleb Swanigan (26th pick)
260/ 6'8.5 W shoes/ 7'3" wingspan
44% 3P / 78% FT
Tyler Cook (from 2015 Nike Hopps summit)
244 / 6'8.5"/ 6'11.5 wingspan
I think Cook is slightly more athletic than Wilson and quite a bit more than Biggie. Wilson was really good defensively and Biggie is obviously a monster on the glass which usually translates well to the NBA.
I still think Cook will have to develop that jump shot out to the 3 point line to make it in the NBA. You just don't see many guys 6'9 in the league that can't shoot it these days. Everyone is athletic in the league.
My guess is TC declares next year w/o an agent and returns. He steps out to the 3pt line his junior year, has a 1st Team all B1G season and enters the draft.
