DJ Carton seems to be the 2019 PG in state PG that other schools are most interested in. Both Wisconsin and Marquette have offered now.

This make tksirius very angry.

Am I the only one that has never heard of him? How many scholarships do we have to give for 2019 assuming Patrick takes one?

I get it, coaches don't like Locure's attitude, but there's no way Carton is better.

2019 D.J. Carton (Bettendorf):

18 Games, 67 for 146 FG (45.9%), 15 for 42 3PT (35.7%) 40 for 54 FT (74.1%)
10.5 points per game, 3.16 assists per game, 2.22 turnovers per game, .94 steals per game, 8 blocks on season

2019 Tyreke Locure (North):

23 Games, 188 for 423 FG (44.4%), 46 for 140 3PT (32.9%), 166 for 198 FT (83.8%)
25.6 points per game, 7.26 assists per game, 3.78 turnovers per game, 3 steals per game, 7 blocks on season

Locure has waaaay tooo many turnovers.

Here is why I am not all that concerned about Carton or how Fran is slow playing some of these 19 PG's - or any of the PG's on his radar specifically with an in-state 3 star. Wisci has a 17 PG already coming in this season - he'll be a junior in 19. That's almost a for sure RS for a 19 PG offer from Wisconsin. Iowa's situation is much different - it's 19 PG will arrive when Jordan is a senior and his likely backup will be a combo guard named McCaffery. You probably won't see a RS and you'd come onto a team LOADED with talent and be chief PG after 1 season w/ Garza, Nunge, both Mac's and Joe W. It's in Iowa's best interests to slow roll this and let the recruiting process and player development run it's course. It'd be stupid to accept an offer right now.

How tall is Carton? We know Locure is short and allegedly has an attitude issue. Carton could be projected to be better by the time they reach college who knows.

I'm holding off judgement on both of Locure and Carton.

I don't want Fran making an offer to either of them just because they are the best in-state point guards. I want him making an offer because he believes they will fit into his system (mentally and physically) and will make the team better.

If Fran decides they're worthy of an offer and makes one, I'll be fine with that.

Just my 2¢ .. .. GO HAWKS!!!

I think Fran has really high standards for our next point guard. It may burn us and we end up with a slightly less skilled fallback. But if he hits a big one, the team around him could contend for championships.

Locure's a stud, I agree - but his turnover ratio tells me "he rack-a-disciprin!"

I'm guessing you haven't seen DJ Carton play, or if you have not much. I'm pretty sure you really don't know if it is possible that Carton is better than Locure.

Either way there is a lot of good high school PG talent in the midwest in the 2019 class. We will need a PG recruit in the '19 class. It is probably a good thing there are several to go after, and hopefully we land a good one.

Iowa does not need to offer a 19 PG yet, I can't stress that enough. There is going to be so much to sell after this season gets rolling. It's in Fran's best interests to WAIT.
