I've always suspected there was very little chance of him NOT playing basketball at Iowa. Now if it wasn't this NEXT season, that wouldn't shock me, but I think he and Fran know how important his roll could probably be on next years team. I've always just assumed he's playing next year and Iowa definitely needs him to IMO.

Nothing of what he said really changes my thoughts on next year. I still think if he's at Iowa next year he will redshirt in hoops and focus primarily on baseball. If not he may go prep school route. Both options give him three years to play with his brother, which I've heard several times throughout this.

He said he will play basketball at Iowa. He didn't say he will play next year. It still sounds like to me he won't be playing next year.

Correct. From everything I've gathered I would wager that he doesn't play basketball next year for Iowa, whether it be because he redshirts or attends prep school. Clearly the final decision hasn't been made yet.

Correct. You're speculating, which is fine. You have a 50-50 shot of being right when the decision is made.
It still needs to be worked out. And there are scenarios I discussed with him today where he will play basketball next year. It's not far fetched at all.
Hopefully we all will find out soon.
