I can't wait to see Garza next fall. Add him to an already talented group of post players and this gets me fired up.

You may be more impressed with Jack Nunge. Both Garza and Nunge are 6'11' now and Nunge will remind you of Uthoff. Garza is a brute and he had 37pts and 14 rebounds in a losing effort for the state title in DC this weekend. Nunge also had 37 pts and 17 boards in a losing effort to get to the championship game. Other team hit a 3 at the buzzer. Nunge had 14 in the 4th quarter to pull Castle even with a couple seconds left. Both average around 25 and double digit rebounds. Both are outstanding in the classroom as well. Great things ahead for the Hawks.

2 totally different players but I've heard great things about Nunge as a shooter and you can never have enough of those. Personally, I'm most excited about Nunge.

I'm more excited about Nunge at this point. Guy did amazing this year going up against the best in Indiana. The team they lost to is a powerhouse. The other kids up for Indiana POY are all like top 35 recruits.

Fran while he did beat out Creighton, GT, Nebraska, the big boys weren't offering him. If he didn't commit in the fall, all the big boys would be after him now. We got a steal here fellas.

Be Careful... Alford's coming to town! Lol ;)

I saw a tweet that said Nunge is another example of Fran's ability to spot talent because he went from a guy no one wanted in the fall to knocking on the door of the top 100. Anyone see that and know which top 100 he meant?

I think he means that Nunge is knocking on the door to being in the top 100.

As of right now Fran has 2 Gatorade Players of the Year locked up. Not too shabby for all the grief we give him on this board :) When was the last time this happened?

Good question, I was thinking maybe 2012 but Paige won it over Woodbury. Gesell won the Nebraska one that year.

I think he means that Nunge is knocking on the door to being in the top 100.

But does that mean new rankings have already come out and he is just outside the top 100? Or is it a prediction that when the new rankings come out he will be a top 100?

I don't see it. He isn't an elite athlete and that is what you have to be in order to defend another teams 3 if you are 6'9. Pretty sure he is a stretch 4 like White.

If he's like White he can at least play the 3 a little or if he has to. Remember that the biggest downfall of White at the 3 was his shooting. It sounds like Nunge is a good shooter.

I am tired of horrible defense. We don't need yet another defender out on the perimeter that is slower than 95% of the 3's that we face. Moss/Ellingson/Dailey/Williams/Connor should be playing the wings, not the Whites and Nunge's of the world.

I swear our fans would have wanted Kamisky to play the 3 spot. Just because you can shoot a 3 pointers doesn't mean you are a wing player.

There are certainly more factors here.

-Fran has always played a lot of zone, which can alleviate a lack of lateral quickness. At 6'10/6'11, his size is very intriguing at the 3 in a zone.

-Iowa has a ton of depth at the 4/5. In order to get the best players in the floor it may require a forward type playing the 3.

-I think he's more comparable to JU, who started at the 3 his junior year. That team was top 35 in adjusted D and also killed teams on the boards with their size.

My main thing is I think Nunge and Garza are both going to be really good. So that means Nunge plays the 3 or Pemsl doesn't even play and I frickin love Pemsl.

Uthoff was naturally a slender guy. Nunge appears to have a thicker built than Uthoff. It should be easier to put a few pounds on him. I read that he is6 ft 11 and 220 lbs. . I don't think either one will be pushed around once they learn the system.

I think that's Garza,Nunge is well under 200 and 6'10"

I read it about Jack Nunge ; you can read all kind of things. For his age he definitely doesn't look a slender as Uthoff.
