Maybe it is a race issue, maybe it is not. I think so many people are stuck in a old school mindset that the only way to generate offense is with dribble drive penetration. Just google 'ball movement and spacing' and watch the youtube videos, very little dribble drive penetration. It is a defense mechanism: Someone says what is wrong with Iowa basketball? The answer: They need a point guard.

I dont think it is ridiculous. While he did an outstanding job. I feel the team would be better served with Bohannon at the 2 and a quick, fast point guard. Esp. one that can penetrate.
Why is this so hard to understand?
 


I read some of the other posts after my quoted one.

It is not just offense or race. It is the fact that he cannot guard a quick, fast PG. That is a fact. And at the D1 level, you find a couple of those around.
 


Shoot, I wouldnt want Jok at PG. He is black. But there is no way he could guard an opposing PG either.

We lack speed and quickness at the guard spot. So this is more of a speed and quickness issue rather then a Bohannon is a white guy issue.

So sliding JoBo to the 2 guard spot will increase his defensive prowess? Quickness lacking at the point will be made up by guarding larger guys at the 2? That doesn't make any sense.

It's a shame you have to play the race card. Gesell was a fine point guard, if he had JB's shooting ability he'd probably be in the NBA right now. But because some of us can see JB's limitations running the point it's because he is white, according to you. Smh
 


There are a lot of things Bohannon is excellent at on the basketball court. He is only a freshman, and I'm sure he has room for improvement. Its hard to believe he will improve greatly at shooting and assists. Bohannon is going to set a lot of records before he is done at Iowa.

That's a shame. People are going to miss out on the joy of watching one of Iowa's elite point guards. He's averaged 21.5 points and 10.5 assists the last 2 games. I can't imagine a scenario (other than Jok being in foul trouble) where Bohannon is on the floor and not at the 1.

I actually like having a point guard that can both pass and make an outside shot. And he's starting to figure out ways to get to the rim...if it's left open. I really like his craftiness and that little tear drop (in the lane) he's developing.
 


I think Bohannon is a great player.
But I guess this comes down to what type of PG you want.
Different opinions and what not. I dont think anyone is right or wrong. Just different tastes.

If JB were black would some of you even notice his" limitations"?
