Game Wrap & Photo Gallery from Iowa-Regis Exhibition

Cook is a man amongst boys. Built like Lebron.

This team will struggle greatly at times this year because their leader Jok sometimes has no interest in playing defense. Rebounding was also a struggle early.
It's going to be a season with bumps and Kirk Cameron type growing pains, but it will also be entertaining and fun.

Did they show replays on the scoreboard?

I would have liked to see any replays of fouls that were called. I am not implying anything about the calls. When watching the game live, you are watching one part of the court and miss what was called. Not surprised if these replays are never shown, but it would be nice. It would help add to the fan experience.

The new scoreboards are nice. Large and easier to see then in previous years.

You know, this season should be a fun ride. The old guard is gone, along with all its limitations. Lets give these boys a shot and see what they can do.

So, I take it they don't show replays on the scoreboard? Or just not plays that result in foul calls etc?

The best thing about basketball is even if the team struggles they should still be fun to watch. Plus you know Fran will be putting the best players on the court for the most part.

Pemsl and Wagner only hit 3 out of 10 free throws, but I'm sure they will improve. Everyone else hit a high percentage. I think they are going to be great from the free throw line this year. Once Fran gets done coaching them up, they should be tough to beat. Its to bad Kriener was ailing.

Kreiner and Ellingson are nursing ankle injuries. Fran said Brady is closer to returning than is Ryan at this point.

If Fran has enough confidence in Moss (I'm not certain he does), then you I think you go ahead and redshirt Dailey.

As far as Pemsl/ Kreiner I don't think either will get redshirted but they are probably 5/6 in our current big man rotation. It doesn't make too much sense to redshirt them with Garza and Nunge coming in. They will have opportunities to earn playing time I'd imagine.

Nobody is denying them their shot. It's not up to message board posters to give these players their shot. They have earned their moment in the sun and they will get it. We all are wishing them the best.

It really is tough to win as a perimeter team; particularly, when you aren't overly fast or quick and aren't money shooters. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the last 4 seasons of Iowa hoops; a lot of really good moments. But, the limitations were always there. Now...youngbloods with loads of untapped hoops talent. Let's just roll the ball out onto the court and let 'em go and see what happens.
