Another 'interesting' take of bashing Iowa from Collin Cowherd himself.

I wish I could say he was wrong.

I tweeted one of his favorite lines right back at him. "Iowa didnt want to be there. They had their heart set on the CFP. The Rose Bowl was a huge let down"
He can stick that in his pipe and smoke it!

I don't understand his obsession with Iowa. If we're so insignificant move on to something else. What a maroon.

His whole "Iowa will never" line is the nut shot he's intentionally trying to poke Iowa fans with... If there's one thing I've learned over the years it's to not throw out "never" in sports. 20-15 years ago if you'd have told me that Michigan, Nebraska, ND, and PSU would all have been pretty much irrelevant on the national scene for the following decade I'd have said your nuts and that'd 'never' happen either and so would have he. Iowa came within 1 play of being in the playoffs and then anything could have happened. Once your on the field you have a chance. A lot more less likely things have happened then a team like Iowa winning it all this year would have been. (and before this season happened that'd have been about as less likely of a thing as I can think of) So he's just being an arse cause he's not a fan of fly over country, the schools there. It says what it says about him that he thinks poking a fan base that takes a lot of pride over their school by taking cheap shots and over the top one liners is how he wants to massage his audience. That's his choice... I remember Jim Rome being somewhat similar when KF pretty much rebuked being on his show. He had lot of not so nice things to say then too. The media isn't about reporting they are about trying to have their opinions matter. It's too bad that to some extent it does...

He must be hearing a lot of negativity from Iowa fans so he'll continue to milk this until things change. My message to Iowa fans is to ignore this guy. He is a troll and the only thing more confrontations can lead to is the nation thinking negatively about our fanbase. Just move on, focus on Iowa athletics and not outsider jerkoffs.

A d-bag is a d-bag. This loser is just trying to get ratings because he's failed everywhere he's landed. His comments aren't even his own work. He has a staff that tells him what to say. Probably tells him when to change his diaper. Ask his ex-wife, she left him because he's a tool, not my words.

if the only way he can stir up an audience...is to troll a small market like IOWA... he's self-defined himself as d-o-n-e

Meh. I'm over Colin and his opinion. Didn't click the link. Hawks will be winning games long after he no longer has a "voice".

He's right. The argument ended in the Rose Bowl.

If the program hates it so much, they'll prove him wrong. Next January.

He picked the Packers this week on Fox. Only one that did. Said a team that gets embarrassed the week before would win. Tool.

The guy maybe a d-bag....but he turned out to be more right than wrong. Until Iowa starts stockpilling its roster with more 5 and 4 star talent, deploying an aggressive offense....no matter the opponent and how good they are....increase their overall team speed from top to bottom, Iowa will continue to get beat by the elite teams in the biggest of big games.

But, if they can string together several 10+ win seaons in a row, perhaps they can start getting more talent in the door. But, sadly, 2017 schedule along with a loss of several key players is not going to allow for that. So, enjoy the things they did this year and hope they can do just about as well or better in the upcoming 2016 season.

"Stockpiling 4,5* talent". LOL.

I don't see the humor. Iowa could use more 5 and 4 star talent....obviously the more 5s the better. You might be able to make a gem out of some 2 and 3 star talent, but the talent level will be apparent or lack thereof in the big games generally speaking. At least with Iowa that has held true.

And, if you don't have the talent, you better out scheme your opponent in the big games. Good luck with Gameday conservative Kirk on that.

The way things are shaping up, Iowa will have a significant amount of key players back in 2017 as well. Big question marks will be a tougher schedule and finding a QB. I really like the footings we have in place right now with a fantastic season in the books, some young talented players in the two deep, solid 2016 recruiting class, new facilities, and potential monster 2017 recruiting class (the latter of course being less of a footing and more of a possibility). The future is seemingly so much brighter than it was one year ago at this time, it isn't even funny. Hopefully it isn't fool's gold.

Hopefully these future classes can be as talented as possible along with whoever coaches them in the future plays to win. That Rose Bowl gameplan does not cut it.

I agree about innovative schemes, formations, playcalling for certain teams/games. I also agree continued improvement in recruiting talent is needed.

Let me repeat, recruiting and talent needs to improve.

The humor is in the "stockpiling". Let's start with getting a few 4's and maybe a 5 here and there before we "stockpile".

The debate continues.

Finding A QB. It's the key. Maybe he's already on the roster, but it's absolutely a must to find one if not.

I understand what you mean. Thanks for clearing that up. I would agree, we are going to need to get them more in the door in first place.

Were you even alive when we had 4-5* recruits? If so you know how that ended.

ThE Hawkeye Way does. Or involve 4-5 star recruits. Our program works to beguiled lesser caliber players into 4-5 star recruits.
