What's everyone's take on it? I'm sure most think Bama's Henry will get it (and he probably will) I think he's a really good rb and has had a great year don't get me wrong. But I think McCaffery and the type of year he's had through the season has been just awesome. He reminds me of Tim Dwight in some regards and maybe that's another reason I like his game. If Iowa didn't have Tavian Banks Timmy may have been a rb and had a similar role. I'm just so tired of the Heisman becoming an MVP award to the best player on top team. I don't think having 3 or more loses should disqualify you if indeed you are the best player. Football is a team game and winning and losing isn't hardly based on if you have the best play necessarily. Hell Iowa quantifies that to a T. Oh well I won't be all bent out of shape over it. It's been this way awhile now and I don't see it changing now.
 






My vote would be for McCaffrey. Any time you put yourself in the same neighborhood as Barry Sanders in the record books, you've done something pretty damn incredible.

But Henry will likely win it.
 






Can't remember a recent year with less excitement around the Heisman. No "WOW" player. Fournette was the one guy that seemed to generate a lot of buzz.
 


No love for Keenan Reynolds. I think when you consider what is on the plates of these young men at the military academies, what he has been able to accomplish and what he means to his team is Heisman worthy, IMHO.

I agree he should be up there too. His stats for the year and his career are pretty darn eye popping too along with what you mentioned. I'd rather give him recognition then Elliott too. As good of a player as Elliott is I just don't like the kid.

If McCaffrey played in the SEC, Big 12 or Big Ten, he would be that player. Hell, even if he played for USC or Oregon. But he plays for Stanford and many of his games are on very late for people east of the rockies, so he doesn't generate the same level of hype or get the same exposure.

Yeah I agree, Henry will likely get it because of the exposure he's had. And that wouldn't be a bad pick but it shouldn't be so cut and dry as it seems to be when discussed on talk radio, tv etc.

Why, because he shot his mouth off one time (and what he said wasn't even slightly inaccurate)?

I'm not a fan of players throwing their coaches under he bus... They sure don't want coaches doing it to them. It's a two way street. It was quite the opposite of what Tebows epic speech was after they lost a big game... He can be right in the content of what he said but let the media and fans point out those obvious points. He didn't have to. Classic case of a kid that didn't know how to accept a loss/bad game. Now he's pretty darn young and hopefully can learn. It's just too bad he didn't already know. That's on Meyer and his staff. And if they had tried coaching him and the team up on how to talk to the media after wins and losses then it's all on him.... Either way unless he's learned and grows up I'm not a fan of his regardless of his talent. The media uses all sorts of biased criteria for differentiating between these players. So why not use that? I agree with what some others on here have mentioned. You put a different helmet on McCaffery such as OSU, Bama you name it he'd be the front runner. You trade him and Henry and I guarantee you that's how it'd be with everything else being equal.

Tebow gave his stupid little speech to the press. He was crying in the locker room after the game and Louis Murphy had to console him. That speech did nothing to inspire his team. Meyer wasn't even mad at Elliot, he knew he was right and based on his comments since then, if I was their OC I would not be looking to rent not buy right now.

This. Tebow was not the leader of that team. By all accounts coming from within the program, Brandon Spikes was the real heart and soul of the team.
 


Regardless of if your a Tebow lover or not it's the mindset of throwing your coaches under the bus. Can you see Canzeri doing that? Really? We benched King for a q for missing a meeting that probably didn't matter a whole heck of a lot. Yet Meyer did absolutely nothing to Elliott for what amounts to insubordination? I think it's just a clear case of he's the star RB and if it was the backup left guard he'd have thrown in the doghouse so fast he'd never suit up for OSU again. That favoritism is what can fracture a locker room too. What if their WRs started crying about not getting their targets? Can they do that? Slippery slope. I'm glad it's them and not us.
