Texas doesn't want big ten, what about A&M?

I got a feeling Texas doesn't want the big ten, cause they think it may be a bigger help to our schools then it is to them. Which makes sense they allready have more money then anyone else. So a 10 to 15 million dollar bumb prolly makes no difference to them. My buddy is a former Texas baseball player and he says baseball and there other non revenue sports want no part of the big ten(texas baseball is a big deal to texas and big ten baseball sucks) and playing in cold weather + no rivals. Which also makes sense, but if the big ten really does want to move south(which I assume the reasoning is to pickup some southern recruiting talent and getting the big 10 network in Texas). Then why not just offer Texas A&M, the texas blog article says that A&M is resistant to the pac 10 move and is looking at the SEC. A&M are an AAU member and a decent academic school(so I'd think they'd rather join a great academic conf rather then the cest pool that is the SEC). So if we want to get the big ten network in Texas and open up that recruiting base, if texas won't play ball, Why wouldn't we just go after Texas #2????? Also If A&M is in a more powerful conference then UT, then this may make Texas nervous over a power struggle for elite team in Texas. Or at worst make A&M on the same level. Could make UT cave to the big ten like the big east crumble might make ND cave. Plus wouldn't A&M be better then rutgers or Mizz even tv wise???? Just a thought.

how about the clowns?

over on the clown network, they are posturing inviting several big 10 schools to join the remains of the big 12.........

Whitup, you are missing the big picture. The Big Ten + the University of Chicago (CIC) discharged nearly $6 billion in research expenditures last year. The University of Texas discharged $527 million in research expenditures itself and collected approximately $700 million in tuition. Texas's athletic budget is $137 million. That's right, 4 times the dollars in research and 5 times the dollars in tuition than the athletic budget. Collaborations between the research minded Big Ten Universities and the University of Texas provide all the incentive Texas needs. This is why the Texas faculty is so supportive of the move to the Big Ten. Just remember that the move of a University is determined by the President of the University and not the Athletic Director. So Texas Baseball be darned ... this decision has little to do with non-revenue sports.

I understand that and you made really good points. I'm not saying let's not go after texas, we definately are, but we could strong arm them by going after A&M, just like were strong arming ND by threatening to crumble the big east. All of Texas money and research dollars won't mean crap if A&M is in a stronger conference and can steal recruits from them. I'm not saying let's go after A&M rather then Texas I'm saying let's go after A&M to make Texas nervous and it may bring Texas And worse case scenario it doesn't work and we can still recruit texas and get big ten network in texas. I'm not even sure what your arguing, sounds like to me you think texas academically loves the big ten, I don't know what your talking about baseball be darned, athletics is the only reason texas won't join. I'm not saying it's the baseball team, just a small part, it's Texas worried about their dominance nationally, I think they think if they join they may become Penn state. I'm saying let's use that to our advantage and invite A&M and make them worried if they don't join they may not be dominant in their own state "athletically". All your financial points you made, proves my point, Texas needs no more money they can do whatever the hell they want to protect their athletic programs. The big ten I guarantee has allready told Texas they can join if they want to, and academically it's a no brainer, so if you think that baseball and there athletic programs don't matter your crazy, cause if it didn't they'd allready said yes!
