At least we got RB Eric Graham



i just watched this film - wonder what this kid's story is? Say what you want, but his video looks miles better than what we have to work with currently. size, speed. prep school. behavior risk? academic risk? was he from a previous class? didn't find him listed in last year or the year prior.

I don't remember exactly how late we got in on Jordan Canzeri, but this reminds me of that scenario a little bit. A kid who was picked up very late in the process but whose HS film really jumps out at you...I guess the similarities end there (at least with my limited recruiting knowledge), but that's the first thing that came to mind.
 


i can see carzeri - he is small, in a not heavily recruited state, area of state. He actually had BCS offers and I believe was a verbal commitment at the time to some other school.

this graham plays football in alabama and appears to have prototypical RB ability, but not other school listed as having offered.

Rivals shows him 5" 11" 200 lbs.
 


i very much doubt he runs a 4.4 Greene ran a 4.6 at the combine and he was pretty fast on the field. he was also a NJ high school track 'star'. (4x100 team won state, i believe).

I agree with you man. I started this thread with moderate sarcasm, but his film actually looks pretty damn good. Good size and it actually looks like he has some break away speed. I just hope he doesn't have to go to Milford academy first or something like that. Something about him seems fishy. Especially the lack of info on him.
 


5' 10" 200lbs is fairly typical RB size coming out of HS. I wouldn't consider him small by any means. And with a 4.41 40, he's got great speed. He also has very good balance. He's obviously playing against lesser competition, but he's doing exactly what you would expect a good RB to do against that type of competition. All-State in Alabama is good, no matter what the class. Not sure why we haven't heard of him until now. Only time will tell.

Don't know have many stars he has, and couldn't care less. This is exactly the kind of recruit I like... No hype and no "hat game".
 


He looks like a very good back. I look forward to seeing him play. 200 pounds is not skinny at all for a 5'10" or 5'11 running back with that speed. He is low to the ground and appears to have good power and speed. Welcome to the team Eric!
 


I was impressed with the portion of the video that I watched. Not sure sure about competition but he seemed to run away from defenders.
 


Found this from an article prior to his senior season:


"I wish we were more of a throwing team, but we have Eric Graham back there."Graham, an All-State running back who rushed for 2,300 yards last year, will be expected to continue where he left off. He said he has scholarship offers from Vanderbilt and Stanford, and several other schools, but said he's leaning "more toward Vanderbilt."
If Graham signs with the Commodores, he will be the second player from Autauga Academy to go to Vanderbilt after offensive lineman Riley Tindol and the third to sign with the SEC (with O.J. Howard playing for Alabama).
 


After watching that video I'm wondering the why he didn't have more offers too. I understand that he was a late qualifier maybe that shied some away but kid has acceleration and vision it looks like. He's not slow has good hands can catch it.... Never know maybe that Higdon kid did us a favor....
 


It is also good to see Iowa recruiting in Alabama I hope that they can continue to get players from there. Maybe they could get a few highly rated offensive lineman from Alabama too!

Maybe I'm missing something blatantly obvious here, but there's a pretty big disconnect between this excerpt and what Jumper posted in the other thread.

1. If Iowa was his only offer, did Vanderbilt or Stanford pull theirs?
2. Would a school like Stanford or Vanderbilt offer a kid with grade issues?

I don't know the recruiting game well at all; it just seemed like these two posts were somewhat at odds with each other.
 




I was wondering the same things, hawk fans! If grades are the reason this kid got no other offers, not even mid-majors, then why was he considering two of the most difficult schools to get into in the nation last yr?
