Watching this team play so well in the last 20 minutes just drives home what could have been, even with Ruddock.

You have to put the blame on coaches here right? To go with that game plan on offense for almost 3 full quarters. Either you didn't scheme their team correctly or you're not in tune with what you have on offense. Either way, it's not hard to imagine this team winning every game except at Minny.
 


That's why I'm so done with Ferentz. We've had bad years with him, I know it's not easy to recruit so I gave him a lot of slack to have rebuilding modes. In those bad years I cut him slack. I know there are holes in our roster with subpar players but with the parity in football now that can be said of a lot of teams.

I felt all year that this team had enough talent to be very decent. The way we played at the end of this game confirms that to me. I think we have more talent at skill positions then usually have. That hasn't been utilized. Greg Davis might suck or he might not, I don't know. If he does it's Ferentz's fault cause he brought him here. I'll tell you one thing about Davis. He doesn't tell JR to ignore the wide open receiver 30 yards downfield and throw for a one yard game so we can punt. It's happened all year and it happened this game up until the last few possessions.

In my opinion Ferentz had a decent to kind of good team this year. With our crazy easy schedule..it's a perfect storm type of schedule. You could go 50 years and not have an easier one. He ****ed it up. Too bad. I think we could have had a hell of a year with even mediocre coaching.

I agree. Bad coaching and game planning and game management cost us yet another gm
 


Miller was right about one thing... Iowa needs a 3 down back. A guy who can take it to the house..a guy who can bring the hammer..a guy who can catch out of the back field.

This big time. Hawks even have a half a Gordon they are a totally different team.
MW just cannot get to the cutback lanes, leaves a lot of yards on the field. But that is not his fault.

I struggle to find where the coaches did a bad job today. Heck, I thought keeping Gordon off the field by running the ball and controling the clock was the recipe. Didn't work, adjusted, made a run until Stave stumbled his way to a first down. second guessing is easy once it's over. Losing stinks, but that was a heck of a game.... Evenly matched... With one turnover, resulting in a 50 yd FG the difference.
 


I had hope that a miracle would happen and the ship might begin to get righted, but it was just another coal in the stocking. It's depressing thinking about the past 5 seasons of Hawk football. Getting jumped by programs we used to be ahead of. AIRBHG stealing our lunch money over and over again. Not taking advantage of favorable schedules. Bad losses to bad teams. Coming close against the good teams but not having quite enough in the end. Kinnick seemingly not the advantage it used to be. Its all just a big downer.
 


Kinnick was rocking loud today... we did all we could, but could not magically help KMM figure out how to catch wide open passes.... maybe he'll master that next year.
 


What makes me ill is the success the Badgers have had in the last ten years in Football & Basketball. I hate them like no other but they can recruit and coach WAY better. Never rebuilding or having a down year.

Did you watch the first half? The idea is to score more points than your opponent. Waiting an entire half to make adjustments is not good coaching.

Agree. It looks like our coaches dont start trying to open the offense up until we get behind. I was just confused with the game plan in the 1st half. Ultra conservative play calling in the first half is what got us behind. Why not call the game to win it instead of calling it not to lose.
