From article:

"I'm maturing and growing up as a man," Outsey said.

"This is taking that next step, it's not high school. You're out here on your own and it's time to take it to the next level and act like a grown man."

Not only has Outsey gained weight, but he sees his technique improving every day.

"I have gotten stronger and now I'm taking it step-by-step, day-by-day," Outsey said.

It's easy to root for kids like that. Alston is from New Jersey. Maybe a little mentoring as he watches Alston lead the Hawkeyes in tackles.

This is why I like having Rutgers in the league. I know that everybody recruits there, but Iowa has good ties there, and now that we can tell recruits we will play in their home state once in their time at Iowa, it should keep our pipeline open....same with DC/Md.

So, Outsey is a 6'3'' 220 lbs lber now? Wonder if he will continue to bulk up and flip to DE?

I am also high on Terrance Harris, another NJ recruit, who is a d-end.

Iowa's recruiting in NJ and Maryland is significant...I think there's 11 kids from DC/MD/NJ on the roster. So, yeah, it's a positive thing for Iowa to get to play more games out east and for the TV coverage to shift east as well.
