DREW COOK I.C. REGINA

so i went to uni dome the last few days and watched some high school football and the best QB of any class including 4-a in my opinion was marv cooks son drew. he had a very strong arm could throw the ball a mile and was even hitting some nice out routes to the side lines (very hard throw) and he is very accurate. pretty mobile as well. only a junior but at 6-4 has the size if puts on a few pounds. I know he is only playing against 1-a competition but bet he would be starting at high or west if his dad wasnt coaching at regina. any body else have any thoughts on him?

Saw him play last week and yesterday. He was 13 for 13 for like 200 yards yesterday. He makes good decisions for his age & maturity level. He's certainly got the size. It would be nice to see him in a game against a team with depth that isn't 1-platooning it. The rush would be more intense, and the db coverage would be more full speed. Playing in IA 1A does him no favors. But it doesn't hurt to be the son of Marv Cook. I'll guess that he will be one of those guys who is a QB in HS, but gets converted to a different position at next level if he goes to Iowa or another D1 school, but you never know. He certainly is on a team that will probably win yet another state title next year.

It is a shame that Iowa has not already made him an offer.

With Jack Beneventi planning to commit sometime in the next few weeks, I expect the Hawks to wait until after they know if he'll be a Hawkeye or not to offer other 2015 QBs. I would hope that Cook and Ryan Boyle of Dowling are both among those that they consider should Beneventi commit to Illinois.

I believe Cook is a much better fit than Boyle for Iowa. He is bigger and stronger with more football IQ than Boyle. Boyle will be a good FCS qb.

And a far worse passer. The guy is just not a legit D-1 QB prospect. Think AJ Derby here. Good athlete, nice prospect at a few different positions, NOT A QUARTERBACK at the high major level.

I've heard this from a lot of people. He is usually at a tailgate that I stop by each week. He seems like a good kid, and goes to all the Hawk games, is a big Hawk fan (I know, go figure).

I definitely don't see "far" worse being fair. Boyle's biggest advantage is his ability to take off and run, not his arm. Granted, I only saw him twice, but he reminded me of Manziel. Not on that level, but a very similar style.

The guy who I'm surprised isn't playing somewhere a little bigger is Heelan's Trent Solsma (going to Morningside, I believe, after hoping to get an offer from UNI). He doesn't have the biggest arm, but he's insanely accurate; completed 23-of-24 passes in the 3A semifinals.

Yes, their offense was a machine and I'm surprised that more of their guys aren't going to UNI or a similar type program. I think they're leading receiver (Niles ?) also signed with Morningside. As far as Cook goes, damn glad to have him as a Hawk, but considering that Beneventi has "committed" and the offer to Boyle, I don't see any possible way that he's going to get a look at QB, but he sure seemed fired up about playing that position in the P-C article. Either way, should be a good problem to have and I can't believe the amount of quality bodies that Iowa is piling up at the QB position.

Maybe I'm not giving him enough credit, but I have trouble seeing Cook fill out to the point of being able to play TE. He's got good hands (Regina ran a few trick plays with him on the receiving end this year), but I don't know if he'll have the size to change positions like that. He just looks pretty lanky.

He's 6'5" and have you seen his dad? They won't have any problems at all getting him to 230/240. The tailgates I go to alot he usually stops by with friends of his (tailgate host has kids his age). Like I said, I don't think it will be a problem getting him up in weight.

If I'm not mistaken (please correct me if wrong) the guy is right around 200lbs. If you figure Doylizing adds 15-20lbs/yr he'll definitely be at least a 2 yr project to get him to the size he'll need to be for success.

Regardless... Welcome aboard young man!
