Take a look at their schedule this year.... we got OSU and MSU, they got IL and Purdue and PSU. They didn't beat any good teams this year. Hate to look at it like this in the glow of today's win but ....

it was a great win, on the road in a hostile, raucous environment.

Including today, UNL should have lost three or four of their last 5 - instead of two. They were very fortunate but also good enough to win.

Yeah, in hindsight, they faced a much softer schedule than us (although I would change your OP to say that they played IL and @PSU while we drew @OSU and Wisc -- we both actually played MSU and @Purdue so not really sure where you were going with that).

We **** pounded them on the field, but seeing we were also the better team on paper is fun too.

NEbby could have been 4-8 very easily this year. Their AD may take that into to account.

There are a lot of rich ag people in Nebby to buy out Bo.

Sparty beat them by 13.

UCLA was close, 20 point margin of victory there.

Iowa wins the prize! (and the trophy :)) Congratulations Hawkeyes! You just handed the Huskers their worst loss of the year, 21 points!

Yeah, I saw this before the game and it was why I thought we would win. They just hadn't beaten a decent team. That being said, you still have to play the game and you still have to beat them at home on Senior day. It's an emotional game for their team, just like the Michigan game was for us a week earlier. They other thing you have to take into consideration is that they were playing for New Years Day and had the motivation also.

At the end of the day, our defense was better and Rudock made the plays necessary to get this win on the offensive side. The throw to CJF for the first touchdown was sick...right on the money. The throw to KMM that he dropped in the end zone was right on the money, right where it needed to be. Then the throw to KMM down the sideline was impressive, as well as the actual touchdown pass to KMM...although the catch may have been better. The most impressive thing to me was that Rudock learned from his mistakes against Michigan. He didn't force anything and was very careful with the ball, eating it a few times when it appeared he wanted to get it out, but thought the better of it. He made plays and managed the game. Very impressive and he's on his way to being a very, very good QB.

I was there for the game. Their fans were really welcoming but us Iowa fans had that quiet confidence that things were going to be different this year. I can't explain it but each of us would look each other in the eyes and just nod but we knew what each other was thinking. They had no idea what was coming.

Big stadium with a lot of energy. I agree that Nebby has been teetering for a while as a program just getting by. Still they have some really good players especially at the skilled positions. Their defense is young but has really improved - very impressive also considering the youth.

Honestly you had to be there to understand the feel and magnitude. Nebby players never quit until the game was decided in the last couple of minutes. There was a period of time in the second half where they had momentum and you could sense their fans thinking OK now we are going to put our foot down and win this game. To snuff that out was HUGE!

It was one of the best performances I have witnessed by us in a long, long time in all three phases of the game. Every single player contributed and played well.

They were pretty gracious in defeat as well but you could just see the somber sadness as they emptied from the stadium with about 6 minutes left. It was first time they felt what a rivalry with us feels like.
