COMEBACK! Hawkeyes Escape Xavier in Atlantis

So is it a good sign that we can overcome the struggles of some of our key players or a concern moving forward that a couple guys we need can go missing???

Gotta hope for some better shooting from the rest of the team for the next 2 days.

I think the ballroom atmosphere makes a big difference in this but at least we have a game under our belt so it can only go up from here. I don't really think our shooting from the floor will get much better but I hope our free throw shooting gets better.

So I am watching this now since we were out earlier. Holy chit! These officials really should be flippin burgers for a living. Wow!

I was yelling at the refs a lot in the first half for all the missed travels on Xavier. Granted I was on my third rum and Dr. Pepper by halftime, but that is besides the point.

I enjoyed the audio, thanks Jon. Looking good for UTEP right now with double digit lead and six
minutes left. They look like a well coached team. Tim is a good coach.

Yes, the officiating was horrible...for both teams.

Doesn't anyone ever get tired of railing on the referees? 500+ posts about the Iowa game last night. A good share of them complaining about the referees.
Youth, middle school, high school, college. It doesn't matter. The one common theme at all of these games is the criticism of the officials. It is hard to even attend a game anymore. Normally respectable adults (lawyers, doctors, teachers, etc.) go absolutely berserk about calls made. I sat by our school board president at a High school football game this year. His constant complaining about the officiating was off the wall, embarrassing. More people need to try their hand at officiating. It would probably tone down their criticism a bit.

I don't get as tired of complaining about bad officiating as I do get tired of bad officiating.

Taking a wild guess that at least 30% of posters here have officiated at least beer league games. Refs missed some blatant calls last night and were very inconsistent. One stretch they were calling by the new rules and the next stretch they completely forgot about those rules.

I thought this was a great comeback win for the Hawks. Iowa was forced to play with its best player on the bench and two players out with 5 fouls. Yet they still managed to come back. The Hawks now know how to play and win close games. I like our chances the rest of the year.

GO HAWKS!!!

See what I mean..Even supposedly sane people (you) go off the wall when officiating is discussed. Step away from the mike and try your hand at it. Hell, anybody can ref a game. (or so it seems)

I didn't see the first half but I thought the officiating in the second half benefited Iowa much more than Xavier.

No way. Iowa got screwed. We were robbed. Officials were horrible. First they were horrible to us. Then they were horrible to Xavier. Then they were horrible to both teams.
I think they were most horrible to Iowa. John Miller, local sports legend, says they were horrible, so by God, they were horrible.
Must be an epidemic of horrible officials.. Seems that on most every message board, after most every game, the refs sucked.
