Peter Jok

We haven't had a true freshman pass the eyeball test since when? This kid impresses me. He is already way ahead of his years in terms of feeling when to pull up for a jumper. He seems to be decent on defense too.

Defensively he was out of position a few times yesterday. Yes he is fearless which is great but then again he does need to know when to pass the ball to get a higher percentage look for a teammate. He also did airball a wide open three which is concerning. I stated earlier in another thread that Fran put Jok on the floor with arguably our best defenders so hopefully he will get a better feel on the defensive side of the court.

I don't know about the defense. That's typical of a high school stud, though. He's never had to play defense Fran will coach him up so I'm not worried.

But other than that........me likey!!!!!!!!!!!

The mistake he made on this play was that he should have shot the 3 when he caught the ball...instead he shot a 3 fading toward the sideline which is a lower percentage shot.

His pull up j looks very nice. I like him shooting the 3 from the corner. He is straight up and down very hard to defend. If he makes a couple of those he really opens the inside for the big guys.

really way too early to know anything - I guess he was aggressive offensively at times... but ya way too early to tell anything.

Iowa's players that can score from anywhere on the court: White, Jok, Uthoff, Marble and Gessel. We should be able to always have at least 2 of these guys on the court at the same time and that will make it very difficult for other teams to double team or trap in the half court. Jok needs to learn to play with a high level of focus and concentration. If he does, then he's athletic enough boh offensively and defensively. We have a really, really good team that can become very good.
