Still hope

Northwestern, Michigan, Purdue all look beatable. Seems all teams we play had some injuries today too that played to critical players. Maybe hope for a bowl still. What say you?

I agree. And while everyone is pretty down about the hawks....it could be that they end up to be a decent team. - yes I'm serious. It all seems to be premised on losing to MSU. Hey, MSU showed a lot of improvement during their bye week. Iowa may too.

Iowa hans't played its best game yet. Just hope that best game comes in a winable game.

Reading the posts in this thread, I would say it is far from everyone...I would agree with the OP...just a matter of confidence and playing a good game and each of the teams mentioned.

Not only are we playing the best team in the B1G on the road but doesn't KF have a horrible record coming off of a bye?

I think there is some hope, but as Iowa has so far eluded the injury bug. But they still have some very tough games in front of them. I am still hoping for a 6 win season. Don't know where the sixth win is though. But Michigan is giving me hope.

I don't think NW can be underestimated. Not playing Ohio State and Wisconsin, Nebraska and Michigan State get a leg up in the conference. Iowa and NW will both take two losses for those games. Michigan will take one loss to Ohio State at the end of the season.

Agreed about MSU. They seemed to have figured their offense. Even tho it was against Indiana, they still rolled up some offense.

I think if we find our offensive mojo against NW, I think we can win in a race (Anyone remember the 2011 game?).

I think we win '2 more games. Nw and wisky had some injuries. My biggest hope for next week is too avoid major injuries.

You are saying Wisky is going to beat us. I in no way am already calling the Wisky game a loss. OSU is a big favorite against us. I think Wisky is a little better than us but it is at home and the hawk players can out play them.

NW lost to a very good Ohio State team and probably an even better Wisconsin. Iowa is not anywhere near as talented as Wisconsin or Ohio State. You beat NW when you can just raw out talent and over power them. We will do neither to NW this year.

I hope that Iowa can beat them, but they are the second toughest team in the conference. Wisconsin is a lot better than Iowa. Their offensive line averages around 320 pounds and I doubt that Iowa's pass rush can do much with them. Add to that, they probably have the best back that Iowa will face this year. He has home run capability, something Iowa's backs do not.

Offensively they will chew up the clock, keeping Iowa's offense on the sideline and wearing out the defense. Defensively they are better than Iowa overall. Their defensive line will cause Iowa problems. And with the exception of Powell, Iowa's wide receivers won't even test Wisconsin's defensive backs.

Many forget. This is a KF team. Iowa will beat someone they shouldn't, then lose to Purdue. You know it's coming.

Personally, I think what's coming are three consecutive losses to better teams. The Hawks have no chance against Ohio State unless the Buckeyes completely self-destruct. Wisconsin and Northwestern are both light years ahead of Iowa offensively (because they have proven game breaking playmakers while Iowa has none) and, in Wisconsin's case, equal or better defensively. Winning either of those games would be a hopeful sign that things are trending upward. After that, they'll desperately need a win at Purdue. While Michigan looks "beatable," how do you think Iowa looks to Michigan? And playing Nebraska in Lincoln will be no picnic, even if the Bugeaters aren't world beaters. I'm guessing 5-7 and hoping for 6-6. 7-5 would be cause for joyous dancing in the streets!

Just wanted to provide the annual mid-season reminder that the transative property does not apply in football.. got this from another forum...all in fun. From a Michigan Point of view

Thankfully Michigan is better than Ohio St.

also.. check this out

Iowa beat W. Michigan by 56pts.
Northwestern beat W. Michigan by 21pts. Which makes Iowa
35 pts better than Northwestern

Michigan beat Notre Dame by 11,
MSU lost by 4.
Which makes Michigan 15 pts better than MSU

MSU beat Iowa by 12, add in our +15 advantage to MSU and we are +27 on Iowa.

Iowa remember is 35pts better than Northwestern, so add on our +27 and we are
62pts better than Northwestern

Northwestern lost to OSU by 10. So 62 - 10 = 52...

Therefore we are 52pts better than OSU
