Tough first round for the big 10

Only three players drafted...ouch.

Breakdown by conference:

Big 12- 9
Sec- 7
Acc- 5
Big East- 3
Pac 10- 2
Others- 3

Dedicated first round coverage does not seem kind to us.

I always wonder how teams like Rutgers, OSU, Clemson, ect.. can always produce first round talent but never win anything? Big 10 coaches seem to be much better at coaching assignment sure football and winning football. It also shows that the NFL likes pure athletes and no necessarily hard-nosed assignment sure football players. If I have to watch teams like Clemson continually blow coverages, lose contain, and go 7-5 and still continually get players drafted so be it.

Lots of talent in the league is young...

It appears that the Big 10 lacks high level talent, or at least it did this past year.

just a few guys off the top of my head who are good bets for first round in 2011 from the Big 10:
Clayborn, IA
Carimi, OL, Wisconsin
Wisniewski, OL, Penn State
Cameron Heyward, DL, OSU

Others who could move up with very good years
Hines, SS, OSU
Royster, RB, Penn State
Greg Jones, LB, MSU

Big 10 had 3 go in the 1st. Graham, Bulaga, Odrick. More than the Pac-10 which going into the bowl season was supposed to be the toughest conference in the land.

This. I think that the bigten is a good example of coaching up players. Outside of OSU and Michigan and sometimes PSU, the BigTen teams will not win on talent alone. I would take the big ten coaches over any other conference in getting the most out of their players (except for Zook and Brewster of course.)

Strange draft year. No first round picks from Miami, Ohio State, USC or Notre Dame. When's the last time that happened?!?!
