This guy is right on, considering how Penn State has eliminated all injuries, eligibility issues and players leaving. Hell, if they work on the cardio they only really need 11 guys to go iron man.

Yeah, they're in trouble. LOL
Maybe a better way for some to understand this is to think of PSU as being restricted to a travel roster all the time. Not that big of a deal.

Trey, I don't think you are grasping the issue. They will not have anybody behind those guys. There are two problems with that. First, you can't withstand any injuries. Two, you can't miss. If some of those guys aren't great(and some of them won't be) there is nobody there to beat them out, or at least nobody of the caliber you need to win in this conference. They are going to have some down years. I'm not sure if they will be terrible, but if they have a lot of injuries in any given year, they will be horrible. I guess it all depends on what you consider down, but I will be surprised if they don't have a losing record sometime in the next four years. They are not playing Boise State's schedule. They are playing in the B1G, and it is nearly impossible to do that without having injury issues. Only time will tell, but I don't think you are looking at the entire picture.

Will they have a losing record sometime within the sanction years? Probably.
Will they be the laughing stock that many believe? Nope
Will Penn St's record during the sanction years equal Iowa's? At least, probably better.
What will Penn St look like in a decade? They'll look very similar to Ohio St and will probably be looking to leave the B1G, as they should

You were making a lot of sense until the portion in bold. Do you honestly think they will be looking to leave the B1G? Also, if you agree that they will likely have a losing record during their sanction years, why did you say that the sanctions won't take their toll? Clearly that would mean that the sanctions took their toll, unless you think that would have happened anyway.

PSU will stay what they've been since joining the B1G through their "sanctions". Which is basically the same as Iowa; 4-8 to 8-4. So no, staying the same does not = taking a toll.

As for leaving the B1G, absolutely they should. As should Ohio St & Michigan. They've essentially already done that with the new geographic split. The Big Ten East is now the new real B1G. How long will those schools be willing to share equally what they generate disproportionately to the others? I wouldn't & if I were an alumni of one of those schools, I'd be ****** that they were. Those schools are essentially subsidizing the Iowa's & Purdue's of the world.

Do you have even the slightest clue as to why the B1G is such a strong conference, and doesn't have schools looked to get out, but instead, schools begging to get in? Iowa is lucky to be in the B1G. So is Ohio State. They are making more money than anybody anywhere, and in large, it is do to the fact that they are in the B1G. They are the conference that other conferences are trying model after. Of course OSU is a bigger cog than Purdue. The Patriots are a bigger cog than the Bills, but I don't they will be trying to get out because the NFL has an equal sharing model, and they feel the slighted. What you are saying sounds great for OSU, until you consider reality.

LOL.
In sheer numbers they'll be FCS, but in quality of player they'll be top 4 in the B1G, probably higher.

Like I said, I'll bet anyone $1000 that these weak sanctions don't "take a toll".
Its a tiny speed bump.

They're basically going to be UNI in numbers & Ohio St in quality.
Two deeps full of 4 stars. But they're going to struggle? LOL

And once these weak sanctions are over, PSU will be positioned, without the handcuffs of Joe Paterno, to be Ohio St's one true consistent threat.

Considering there's only 2 good teams in the conference, big deal.

I don't think you understand why the B1G is a "strong" conference. Its simply due to Alumni numbers. The athletic product is terrible. The B1G simply has a huge alumni base (much larger than any other league). Those folks are the cable customer that drives the TV dollars. Its nothing more, nothing less. Simple numbers. Quantity over quality.

The Bills/Patriots analogy is LOL. The Patriots don't have anywhere to go. Ohio St most certainly would.

What do you think happens when Ohio St gets left out of a playoff because their SOS sucks due to the B1G being typically awful? You think OSU just says aww shucks, we'll get 'em next year?!?

If you look at this from a OSU perspective, its dumb to stay in the B1G. I'd join the SEC & bring Michigan & Penn St with me. That would essentially kill the B1G making SEC programming even more valuable.

You could have just said no.

Dude, you have contradicted yourself like five times. I would have a better chance of converting Israel to Islam. You are not getting it, and you are not going to get it.

To the other posters on this board. Is this par for the course for Trey? I definitely recognize that he is a regular poster, but have never paid that close attention to what he posts.
