Iowa's Super Bowl is in Ames This Year

I can agree with him on the fast start point. The ISU game is fairly important early on. He did mention some other games if importance as well (Purdue, NW, Minny). I think if we get thru the non-con schedule unscathed, I'd say MSU at home is a big one that could be a good gage to how well we can end up playing thru the conference schedule.
The downside to this discussion right now, is the season is over 3 months away. Ermuhgawd!!

The ISU game SHOULD represent the difference between a 4-0 and 3-1 non-conference record. Go into the BoneG schedule at 4-0 and I feel good about getting to a bowl. Go into it 3-1 things start to get a little dicey in regards to the post season. Also, getting a win on the road would really boost morale. With Kirk's lack of success at the Jack though I have this one marked as an "L" and probably will always have games in LAmes marked that way until Kirk is no longer coach.

The ISU faithful will get a kick out of this (there's already a thread about it on CF). However, I don't have any problem admitting this game will be huge for Iowa this year. Regardless of Iowa State's record going into the Iowa game, the Cyclones will be an awful team this year. If Iowa can't beat them then it will be a huge disappointment. If Iowa beats them then it gives them momentum and confidence going into the next part of their schedule. There aren't many games on Iowa's schedule this year that should be marked as wins. The Iowa State game is one of them. They need to take care of business in Ames.

Time for Iowa, and KF to target those who have targeted Iowa when those programs were down...specifically, ISU,Minny, and NW. Win those three games, and Iowa will be in good shape for a decent bowl.

Spot on, even though you are only 27. :)

I am 27... but I did eight years in the Army starting at the tender age of 17 so I'm mature beyond my years!

With that said, I'm surprised we actually agree on something Mr. Comanche.

Awww man we are going to spoil ISU's National Title run? They are after all the favorites since they won the title game last year according to their fans.

It's significant, in that it's a non-conf game against a BCS conference opponent. One you want to win to get the year moving in the right direction.

Oh I'm sorry it was only if you guys were in the Big Ten. That's what Clown fans were saying. That a national title would be yours.

For the record, the reporter calls it Iowa's "most important game," not Iowa's "Super Bowl." The OP apparently interpreted it to mean "Super Bowl."

The reporter makes a good point about how important the game is for entering the conference part of the season. Lose this game and it will certainly be a long season.

Wow....that big whooshing sound was the OP going over your head. Im thinking everybody else but you picked up on it.

Beat ISU and it still will be difficult to gauge how good or bad Iowa is at that point in the season.........lose to ISU and we know Iowa pretty much sucks same deal every year. Yeah, yeah I know '02 was the exception.

Honestly it is important for momentum and that's about it. I do wish if we are hammering them to run up the score as high as possible to put them back in their place. My god Notre Dame fans agree....Clowns are the most delusional fan base.

Still seems odd to see you use "Super Bowl" in the title of the thread, as if you were thinking of the game this way. Why not just call it the "most important game?" Not tracking with your sense of humor may actually be a badge of honor.
