A glimpse of the future with Woodbury tonight!

I saw some pretty good moves down low tonight. Very decisive and right at the defender. Those moves will only get better with time and more strength. He should be significantly improved next year and be a force.

Exactly why I said the NIT was better for this team than the NCAA. Look how much progress and confidence Woodbury has gained in the last 3 games.

There were times though that he got schooled by their freshman Mike Tobey. But yeah you can see the talent is there and the mental toughness, strength will come. He made some nice moves to the basket tonight and it was nice to see him not bring the ball down so a 5 footer could knock it out.

He's been terrific on defense all year, he's been physical and hasn't backed down from anyone. His offense has picked up the last six or seven games, that strong right handed hook he hit tonight was huge. He's going to be a damn good one.

He has a lot of room to improve and he will....but he has played better this year than I thought he would.

Remember all those posts after the 4A playoffs last year, people saying he wouldn't amount to anything at Iowa?

Remember when a mod trolled him all year with his block-meter? Good times.

remember lo and jep as freshmen? i remember laughing at them when they were on the court. both collected nba checks. Wood is in good shape.

I'm not lying when I say that I literally got p**sed off when DT put Jepsen in the game early in his career. Coordination was not his strong suit and he had rocks for hands. But credit to LJ's hard work. By his senior year I was a big fan.

Woody played great tonight. I was a little disappointed that at least twice, Woody picked the defender and was then left alone and everyone missed him. Would have been nice to see a jam or two.

But all in all it was a well played game by everybody. I wouldn't change a thing!!

GO HAWKS!!!

We've been bad at hitting the posts all year, I think part of it may be the guys don't fully trust Woody or Gabe yet, but there are several times each game where they are open and the guards don't look for them.

Gabe was WIDE open for a sumk rolling to the rim and MikeG missed him, instead shooting a 3. The pocket pass is tough, however.
Woodys been solid all year. As he said in post game, it was good to see his hard work pay off with some points.

I never believed that. Sure, I thought he'd take a couple years to be a force, but you can see him developing, and the ability he has. Just get the kid in the weight room this off-season, and he will be a far better player next year and beyond IMO.

I don't think he's ever going to be the complete post player. He'll be very, very good, but the lack of explosiveness will hold him back from being truly great. He'll always be more skills-oriented than athleticism-oriented. If we could just combine Woody and Gabe...good Lord.
