The freshmen guards got manhandled in the second half

They didn't respond well. Marble seemed lost also. Credit to the Spartans, they ratcheted up the intensity in the last 10 minutes and the Hawks didn't match it. Can't wait for the officials to bail you out, not going to happen in the BTT. NCAA would be nice, but it's an NIT bid for Iowa this year - definitely not as sweet tasting as last year.

Gesell wasn't the one constantly dribbling up the gut into 3 people and losing the ball.. God that was frustrating. Equally as frustrating as not seeing any of our bigs in the game the last 12 or so minutes of regulation when they were straight up dominating MSU.

Yes, they were manhandled literally along with the rest of the team but it apparently doesn't count if Mich. State does it. But it's okay that a Mich State. player came down on Marble while he was shooting because according to the announcers "the refs are letting them play" ... oh wait, until 45 seconds are left and Aaron White gets 95% ball... and barely touches an arm. That's a foul.

It was Clemmons who got manhandled not Gesell. Suckes that Gesell got hurt at the end, that's when MSU went on the run. Clemmons has to be smarter and not try and force a dribble drive when it's not there. Too many times he tried to split defenders and got caught.

They struggled but your best players have to step up in big games. We have two experienced players that consistently don't show up in the most important games.

MSU says otherwise.

Only MSU can handcheck and it's no foul.
Only can an Iowa defender get all ball, and it's a foul.

I didn't even see White get arm. But I was also partially busy whipping the remote control against the wall.

It is because we don't have any consistent outside shooting threats. MSU could just sag everyone into the middle without worrying about being burned by the 3.

it's taking the cheap way out to blame this one on the refs. That 19-2 run (or whatever it was) was not because of the refs.

Agree that in a game that physical, odd that Iowa wasn't even in the bonus in the second half, while MSU was in the double bonus. But, you got to deal with it. The Hawks didn't tonight.

Also easier to patrol the paint when your physically unable to have a foul called.

Mike had about 3 straight trips down the court where he didn't take care of the ball. Clemmons did as well, and his came later in the half, so they are more notable.

I don't think anyone is blaming the loss on the ref. THe fact is the defense and turnovers and inability to make a shot killed us, but lets be honest, win or lose, that officiating was anything but consistent.
