Yeah we can look ahead but just dont get demoralized if we lose on Thursday. Remember how crappy we shot the first half at evanston. And NU was shooting good yesterday against msu.

I started a looking ahead thread right before the game at nebby. I called the hawks finishing 4-1 and like everyone was on cloud nine with the 16 point halftime lead at lincoln. Then thud , down to earth.

I think we should beat NU by 15 but I am taking it one at a time baby.

For the first time in who knows how long I can say this with a straight face.....MSU 3's point D is not ours....NW has shot a combined 11-51 against us so far this year....that is both bad shooting and good D....I believe we were #1 in the conference for 3pt D%.

Be careful or you will be accused of trolling, as was I. But I agree with you. Basabe looks like who we thought he was going to be. Woodbury is coming on strong. Oglesthree is heating up. White is going into beastmode. Olaseni has done a 180. Gesell is back. We have a lot of depth and are playing good ball at the right time. We are overdue for a good stretch of basketball.

This is also a good game to let McCabe use all 5 of his fouls. I'm talking the hard variety down low...not the ticky tack stuff on the perimeter.

Yup. Izzo was the worst possible draw. They were allowed to mug Iowa in Iowa city it will get worse on a neutral court.

If Ted Valentine is assigned to this game,we are dead. Decapitations will be allowed,with no foul call. Nix will bend and break us in the paint.

Now, if we get the crew we had Saturday,it could be a fair fight.

I also like how we are playing. MSU is killing time til the NCAA...they are bored with this affair.
Last year they had their way with us down in the paint,with Zach trying to guard Nix. We are better equipped this year.

To win this thing Iowa will simply have to beat the #6,#10 and #2 teams in the country. Winning the NCAA will seem like a walk in the park compared.

Fan base perception effects the program. Players, coaches and recruits feel the energy fans give. Having a "look ahead" attitude is something this team doesn't need to see or hear from the public.

Pretty sure players and coaches are taught not to read the negative message boards though so written opinion here doesn't effect much.

I don't believe Northwestern will be a walk in the park, but we should get by that game with our defense, especially against the three. If you were to ask me who I would like to play next, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, or Ohio State...I would take Michigan State every day of the week. The others have guys that can absolutely kill you from the outside...MSU is a not a great shooting team and they can go cold for stretches...something we are also very accustomed to. I know they are very physical, but you know what, if you aren't ready to play that type of game after a regular season in the B10, then it's time to just skip the second round game and go straight to the NIT. If Gessell is playing, we beat MSU...it's time to make that whiny little face that IZZO does when a referee actually calls something against them, permanent.

No need to worry about me either. I will be demoralized if we lose to northwestern whether I look past them or not.
